I ran prime95 with my overclocked sandy 3700:

(250x11)=2750mhz@ 1.392v
geil one S (tccd chips) 9/10 divider 2-3-2-6 ddr423 (i don't know why it came like this, but it did, should be ddr450)

I'm curious as to why it restarted after running prime95 just 1 1/2 hrs. I'm thinking its the voltage that caused the early fail. Any suggestions?

I ran aquamark 03, 3dmark06, and found no signs of studdering or slow downs of any kind.

Bump the voltage up by .025 or .05 and retest. That sounds like why it failed.

Thanks for the imput fellas, but how reliable do you think an overclock like that would be?
Do you think an overclock that high will totally kill the cpu within a year, or do you think it will last for years to come?

I'm using a swiftech 6400-v heatsink with arctic silver5. idle temps are 32-34c with the above overclock with 1.392v, and load is 47c max. I'm guessing that if i were to up the volts .25-.50 i just might touch 50c. Does cooling reflect on how your cpu will perform and last?

Thanks

that isnt a VERY high overclock.. THe only thing that will reduce the life of your cpu is too much voltage and secondly, heat. So basically, if you stay under 1.55v and have dcent cooling, your cpu will be just fine

Thank you very much :)

I ran a torture test all through the night with my computer still at 2.750 with the voltage at 1.408 from 1.392, but what i don't get is why it frozed. I ran the torture test, and selected the blend test "a little of everything lots of ram". When i woke up my computer as i noticed frozed, but what i don't get is that, after i did my hard shut and rebooted, I checked my prime results and said that everything passed.

Do you think this has to do with the simple fact that the test itself only lasts for a certain time, or the fact that my computer just frozed naturally and not off of stability purposes?

I really believe it frozed naturally because wouldn't it show up as error on prime95?

frozed naturally???????

a stable computer don't freeze naturally. Try running the test without any o/c.

as every1 else stated up the voltage or bring your O/C down if you want to keep the stock voltage

also run small fft to isolate your cpu.

as for your ram...

for now, be sure to set your timings to auto or by spd and then use the ddr333 or ddr266 divider. this will help to eliminate your ram as a possible source of what is causing prime to fail.

Yeah i'm sure i need more voltage, but under the bios it reads that i have 1.43v applied to the cpu, but under cpu-z or everest as well as smart guardian it shows as 1.408v. The reason why i refuse to crank the voltage up anymore is because when testing my temps got as high as the low low 50c, which is too high for me. I think the ram is rock stable, i ran a bunch of memtest86 runs and came up with no errors.

Something that i do notice is that games don't run quite as smooth as they do with the computer stock. Is it even possible to make an overclocked computer as stable as a stock one?
