I didn't think there was any diff between the 6 and 8, besides the engine. Neither is trail worthy.
And what kind of trail might that be? There aren't many SUVs that are as capable off-road as the Touareg and Cayenne - especially none as luxury oriented.

Maybe Hummer (H1), Jeep (Grand Cherokee), Land Rover (Discovery and Range Rover), and Mercedes (G500). Though arguably, none of them are as nicely appointed as the Touareg and Cayenne.
Cayenne is about as likely to be taken off road as my sentra 🙂
Diesel said the Cayenne isn't trailworthy. I wanted to know what he was basing his opinion on. Other SUV's, or some trumped up Ranger on 36" tires.

I fail to see how your post had anything to do with mine.

Yeah, the Cayenne's 29" tires wrapped around 18" rims are great for the trails.

29" tires and you want to tell me it's trail worthy? Everything that is coming out now is being, as I like to say, wussified. I may be biased because I have one, but the 3rd gen 4Runner (96-02) were one of the best off road ready stock SUVs. It came stock with 31" tires. What kind of tire can you get for a freakin 18" rim? You wouldn't want to air down your tires on the trail with an 18" rim. I'm not saying the Toureg is bad off road. It may be better than an Explorer or such. 4Runners came with 11" of ground clearance. The closest was 9". Grand Cherokees aren't bad. Liberties aren't bad either. As for H1's, that's obvious, although it's too wide for some trails.

PS - My S/C'd 4Runner on 33's can take all of them on!
