I was looking at high-res versions of those last night at NASA but didn't think about turning them into wallpapers. Cool.

Heh, we're not defying any physics or laws here. One word - Exposure time? The camera is obviously amazing, but these pictures ARE colourized and saturdated and it IS 2500 light years away. Nasa does for all their photos. As are all those photos at the new scientist.
