Republicans have demonstrated that if they are allowed within a mile of governing, the result is a disaster for the US. So anyone who cares about this country should want an all Democrat government. They had full control and took this country from a balanced budget running prosperity to a brink of a great depression. They've had the filibuster in the Senate, the result is a weak recovery due to only half measures passing. They got the House, we are on the brink of default. There is simply no hope for this country if GOP has ANY role in governing it.

Even if I don't agree with you politically, I can support your basic ideal of one governing group, with the resulting unrepresented minority effectively silenced.

You must have missed the part about working together, putting aside partisanship, and jazzhands while you were looking into Obama's eyes and fantasizing. I am guessing you get blue balled just watching Obama on TV.

LOL. Just spit my damned coffee out when I read this.

Sig worthy material right there

Except the "unrepresented minority" as you call it is typically 42% +/- of the electorate at any given time, regardless of which party is in control and the balance made up of independents. We have a very evenly divided populace and it has been this way for generations. A good thing actually

And what is the result after having 2 years of absolute Democrat control of the government.
More debt; higher unemployment; lackies still in power; more attempts to play robin Hood; lack of accountability and transparency.

The Dems screwed the pooch when in complete control. check/balances are needed to prevent such by either side.

I think it keeps us from moving with drive in any one direction. A single, unified party (with opposition outlawed) under a dynamic, aggressive leader would be ideal IMO. Really for either "side" it would allow them to accomplish their goals much more quickly and efficiently.

TALKING POINT...
Yep. Their talking point is now "lets see Obama's plan".
"Where is it?". "We want to see it!".

Well stupid sheep.. Obama's plan, if you recall?, was and still is called "THE BIG DEAL".
Fat dumb stupid retarded republican talking points...
How dumb do you need to be to be considered an American these days?
So sad...
People believe shit because they think with shit for brains.
So sad...
Too bad Canada doesn't have nukes or a massive military. We need to be taken over and kicked in the butt. Well... some of us that is. Especially everyone in red states.

Not all of us red-staters are to blame. Give the rest of us a little time to get the heck out of dodge when you get that tank rolling.

Our national debt is over $14.5 trillion dollars. That's almost $50,000 per citizen and over $130,000 per federal taxpayer. Can we really afford to move with any more drive?

If the Dems were completely in charge we'd owe $20 trillion. If the Pubbies were completely in charge our national debt would be exceeded only by the debt under the Dems. I know that progressives got tiny little stiffies when Michelle said Obama was "ready to rule", but Brencat's right - divided government is a good thing.

Maybe we should just divide the country down the middle and let each respective parties do whatever the fuck they want with their half. 😛

Hey, I've heard of something like that, what do they call it? Dang it, what was it ...oh yea, dictator?

I want a Government by the people for the people.

Not for a party or Corporations which we now have.

As do I. We need far more separation of corporation and state. But if you want a government by the people, you will have to accept some people have differing viewpoints.

In past posts, I have made it abundantly clear that I am fed up with both parties. I have never held allegiance to a single party/ideology. I simply refuse to believe one has a monopoly on the best ideas and solutions for our country.

Hell, I often wonder if we would be better off getting rid of the party system all together, it leads to way too much partisanship and all of the problems that offers.

Partisan hacks can't see this. If you combine the truth in Senseamps comment that you responded to, along with your comment that I am quoting, what is the obvious conclusion? That both parties are screwing us, and neither one has a monopoly on effective government?

Of course you probably don't believe the repubs have any responsibility for any of this with their record-breaking use of filibusters or "party of no" attitudes do you?

Face it people, we need both spending cuts AND tax increases to get out of this hole. The only ones remotely endorsing this position is mainly dems and a handful of repubs.

Sorry, the smoke and mirrors from the Dems is no better than the utter stupidity of the Reps. Their solution for a missing leg is to take two aspirin and call them in a decade.

How about the Dems "compromise" to get the spending cuts now and work on the tax increases later? How about their support for a balanced budget amendment? And why don't you call them the party of no?

I think a strong nationalistic leader with a supporting plutocracy\oligarchy would work, as opposed to a single man wielding all the power.

A stronger, united government that didn't have to fear being ousted by elections could cut services, raise taxes and TELL the people that they've been living too high on the hog, and there WILL BE austerity as a result. So Americans have to eat tinned meat a few times a week. Cry me a river.

Of course it would "work", the question is WHO would it work for? That's a rhetorical question btw.

Why do we have to wait for tax increases? It worked under Reagan & Clinton?
Errr...it appears that we need to wait for tax increases if we want our debt limit increased by the end of the week. Reps have stated adamantly from the very beginnning that tax increases are off the table. Isn't it strange that Dems now insist on tax increases after recently approving an extension of the Bush tax cuts and included a bunch of tax cuts in their porkulus package?

Both sides agree that spending needs to be cut...so let's do it, get the debt limit increased and then work on the tax revenue side of the equation later....which IMO should be a complete overhaul of the tax system and that sure as hell ain't gonna happen in a week.

That isn't a compromize. That is the GOP getting everything they want. You're delusional if you think that is compromize.
