2008

He had "hope" to ride on then.

2012

This stunt which leads gays on to thinking he'll turn it around after the elections. Guaranteed if he wins nothing changes in his next four years.

People like you are very puzzlingly irrational, and pretty much wrong.

First, you make the 'hope' comment that has nothing to do with the topic.

Second, you call it a 'stunt' with nothing to back it up, then you claim he's lying about finally coming out for this position with nothing to back it up, and then you "guarantee" that he won't do anything in the next four years with nothing to back it up - but all the evidence suggesting the opposite, just as he 'did something' to get rid of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

For more irrationality, you not only wrongly attack him that he won't do anything - as if you disapprove - but don't say a word about the guy who clearly WON'T, Romney.

So, your position is, presumably supporting Romney given this attack on Obama, you are for Romney doing nothing, and say Obam will do nothing but are against Obama for it.

I don't support Romney either. I am just pointing out Obama's hypocrisy. He juiced promises in 2008 (hope) now he's looking for the progressive vote. And, no, he won't overturn anything on gay marriage because at his core he opposes it.

He's already doing something about DOMA, saying he won't defend its constitutionality.

He's already publicly refused to defend the DOMA in court, as Senseamp points out. That's about as much principle as one can hope for in a politician. His heart is his own, but I'd guess it's a safe bet that Obama has always supported gay marriage but opposed it for political benefit. I have the same suspicion about Romney.

Maybe Obama just wants to get married again to someone more feminine than Michelle.
Oh no you didn't! 😀

It is good to see that after intense political pressure that President Obama has finally come around to the Dick Cheney & George W. Bush position on marriage equality

Shouldnt it be Obama flip-flops on gay marriage?

No, it should be OBAMA DECLARES WAR ON MARRIAGE. (thanks Fox, fair and balanced as always)

There were a pretty serious number of supporters of the president who voiced their dismay at his position on gay marriage before today. Now that he's voicing an opinion that matches theirs... they should be upset because he didn't hold firm on a position they disagreed with?

The intellectual dishonesty here is staggering.

I'm hopeful that his letting this opinion be known does mean the country is ready to move towards secular marriage for all.

Secular marriage for all adults who want it.

Let religions invent new words for their various ceremonial rites.

This I can agree with. If the issue is a religious one (rather than bigotry) just abolish marriage as we know it and flatten it into basically domestic partnerships.

Right. Everyone knows the war on marriage began in the 60s. When will fox learn :colbert:

And considering the liberals think treating women like men is declaring a "War on Women". Logically treating same sex marriage as marraige would be declaring a "war on marriage"

It clearly says ABC News :hmm:

It's a shot of the ABC News interview that was posted on Fox Nation, which supplied the caption.

EDIT: In fact the same picture is still their front page picture, albeit with an edited caption. Presumably even Fox has some level of shame.

So when Romney does this, it's called a "flip flop", when obummer does it, he's wonderful. Typical hypocrisy.

Add this to the list of many reasons why obummer is terrible.
as usual your hatred for Obama is obvious!! Thus your credibility goes into the shitter....

Yes, clearly that's what the Democrats were saying.

You know it's okay to just say 'wow, that's fucked up' sometimes.
