No, it's really not. For me it's about two things. Allowing a great deal of people that are going to be a net drain into the country, and the way those people are exploited. I'm in an industry that employs a lot of illegals, employers like them because they don't have to pay them competitive wages, work them like slaves, and if they get hurt on the job you fire them. No workmens comp claims, not complaints to the LRB, no collecting unemployment, nothing. They get used and tossed when they are of no further use. That ain't right, and the easy way to stop it is for those people to come here legally so they're not afraid to stand up for themselves.

And just for the record, my entire family on my wife's side are those brown people you speak of.

ALL of those problems would be solved by granting citizenship to all of the illegal immigrants who proved themselves as otherwise law-abiding, worthy, and hard working members of society.
