While Pollution isn't just about GWB and the USA, if the USA will not join the rest of the world in some sort of an agreement, no world agreement is possible.

So the entire world has figured it except the US? Everyone wants it their way or the highway. That's the problem. For a Country like Japan it is a lot easier to transition, than it is for a Country like The U.S. China CAN help, since they are still building factories and power plants at a unprecedented rate, but they aren't doing anything. Where's the condemnation towards them? But it isn't hip to bash China, Bashing America is the thing to do.

No, the hip thing in your circle seems to be well China isn't going to do anything so we don't have to?

Since when is China the litmus test for us doing anything?

Just a dumb argument.

Well China uses slave labor so we better use slave labor too, or else we'll never be competitive! :brokenheart:

actually, the rest of the world doesn't have it figured out

Between 2000 and 2006, U.S. net greenhouse gas emissions fell 3%. Of the 17 largest world-wide emitters, only France reduced by more.

of course, 2006 was a mild year in terms of weather, and so about half of the fall in 2006 was made back up in 2007 by early estimates ('final' numbers don't come out until november). but the way the economy is going this year, 2008 is going to be a way down year in comparison.

It's not funny for the president of the US to joke about this topic because the US has - and deservedly so - a bad reputation in that area.

China is the world's biggest polluter.

I do believe that's the case but what's their population - like 3x ours? We have a bad rep as wasteful and a comment like this doesn't help the situation.

I'd rather he spend his time doing that than being The Decider.

And burning pages out of the bible...

I got em good!!! Thinking to himself!

I've seen children act out in clumsy defiance the same way Bush was described at that meeting.

I've seen parents of these spoiled rotten children defend their inexcusable behavior the same way I've seen some of Bush's supporters defend him, alot of the time with the exact same excuse the parents use.
