Prescott is useless on S478 motherboards. Don't invest in Prescott until S775 motherboards are released in the next 6-8 weeks.

Are you telling me that you got rid of that 3.0C that would do 4.0ghz? Man, that's one chip I would have killed to have a chance at buying.Originally posted by: pastorjay
If you can get a good overclocker, the Prescott is NOT a bad choice. It definitey has an advantage in encoding. It shaved a little time off of my DvD encoding. They are warmer, but I am not going with the hype that has been reported about how "bd" it is. My Prescotts (I have had 3: 2 - 2.8E and 1 3.0E) all ran warmer at idle, but were a little cooler at full load. So, if you get a good clocker, they are not a bad chip. If you are gonna keep her at default... northwood for sure.

Are you saying that you're happier with a 2.4C running at ~3.3ghz than with that 3.0 at 4.0?:Q

No, I need to change that, but I am waiting for my new board to get here (Abit Max3) and I have a 3.2C that I am working with. It does 3.8 pretty nice. I never got my 3.0 totally stable at 4.0.
