I'm looking for a used car 2000 or newer
Anyone here have test drove both car?
what do u think? which one is more fun to drive?
I really like prelude cuz it looks better from out side
but then Celica GTS has kick ass interior and 6spd

let's me hear some opinions

and for those import haters.. please keep your opinions to yourself, thanks

Looks alone I'd say Prelude...and I've only driven the Lude so I can't compare for you...but just go Honda 😉

I heard the Celica handles like a champ. Looks alone I like the Celica better. I think power goes to the Prelude though.

I would have to say the Prelude. I'm a Honda-lover at heart (though I own a Toyota now), but all bias aside, from my personal driving experience, the 'lude handled better and felt faster than the Celica. Sure the 6-speed in the Celica is nice, but the gearing on the 'lude makes for a faster feel, and that's what makes driving fun.

Prelude! Prelude!

Did I mention Prelude?

One of the best handling FWD cars, great power, great engine, great interior, great suspension, great gearbox, great looks, if you get teh SH you'll get a Electronic LSD, its just a great car overall!

BTW, I just bought a prelude engine for my car. Trust me, you won't regret the prelude. Honda makes a much better performance 4-banger then Toyota.

Not really.......

The Prelude is a bit more refined and easier as a daily driver w/ its extra tourqe, but you still get a nice high end with one of the best suspensions in an FWD car and a LSD to boot. The Celica is much more high strung and peakier then the Lude, but you also get sharper handling and a more aggressive exterior.

Basically test both cars and decide which will make you happier.

N/A yes.

A JDM 3S-GE makes 210 HP, a JDM H22A makes 220. I wouldn't really call that "much better performance".

H22A makes more torque..

Isn't the 210 horse version turbo?

I believe that's true as well. Though it's the 3S-GTE.

...no it doesn't. A 3S-GE makes 163 ft/lbs while a prelude makes 153 ft/lbs. stock. Thanks to VVTi. 🙂

And it's not turbo, just look up the stock numbers on a JDM Altezza. It's N/A.

There's actually truth to that, Toyota discovered that the 2zz-ge motor in the celica GTS had problems and they lowered the rev limiter from 8200 to 7800 rpm. The motor still makes more power above 7800 rpms, but apparently it couldn't reliabily do that so they lowered the rev limiter. It was really a poor band-aid fix and it slowed the celica down alot.

I was never too clear what the problem was though, either the motor was weak, or a lot of people were missing shifts from the close spacing on the shifter, causing motors to blow out.

Well, can't compare then since that's not available in this country. I'm not overly impressed w/ the Celica's 4 banger tho.

Even still, the Euro Accord-R H22A makes 163 ft/lbs. stock also..
