My girlfriend's brother is transgenderd. People wouldn't know he has a vagina unless he told you.

You people are pretty ignorant and confused. The interesting thing is that you probably know transgendered people but have no idea.

We are not talking about someone born with a mutation.

We're talking about someone who surgically altered themselves in an attempt to become something they are not. I think it's clear who is ignorant and confused.

If they can have the procedure done, and it makes their life better, who are we to judge?

I don't care if they want to be altered to look like a cucumber.

The problem is that they are attempting to pass themselves off as something they are not - lying to both themselves and others in the process.

errr...it's already well established that people who "think" they are of the opposite sex actually have brain wiring that are very similar to that of the opposite sex. It's mainly caused by very minute differences in hormone levels that can cause the brain to switch from one sex identity to the other while the fetus is developing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexually_dimorphic_nucleus

The SDN and other dimorphic areas of the brain also determine if the person is gay or not.

With this many humans on the earth, this kind of "anomaly" is bound to happen. It's not really a choice. The person in the OP's article is one of many transgender. It was only a matter of time before someone like him actually publicly announced that he will bear a child.

Pretty simple.

That it is indeed simple. However, it is an antiquated notion of gender identity. You're free to feel however you feel, and I won't try to convert you, provided you pay me the same favor. I am curious, how do you feel about homosexuality? How about interracial marriage? Strictly as a curiosity, no judgment on you.

given the suicide rates, seems like it often doesn't make their life better.

Seriously. People need to throw that gender/sex thing out the window. If you were born with a dick and you feel extremely feminine, get some testosterone shots or something.

At least lesbians and gays are honest about it. "I love vagina, I've got one too" "I love cock, I've got one too" Simple, no bullshit.

Would anyone here enter into a romantic relationship with a person who was previously a different gender?

How would you react if you found out the person you're in a relationship with now revealed that they were previously a different gender?

#1 - No. There is no "previously a different gender" - you're either man or woman.

#2 - Kick them to the curb. I do not tolerate lies and deceit in my relationships.

man or woman I don't see how this really matters. Most here are really more than lacking in sexuality to begin with.

As long as the household is 'child safe' so be it.

Personally no. However, you are giving too much credit to sex which is really not a basis to a SERIOUS relationship. You saying romantic, precludes things like marriage and the like really.

Sex is an important part of a relationship for me, but many others put that more lower on the totem pole.

I mean this in a surgical or physical appearance sense. I agree that if you're born a certain sex then genetically that's what you are. I'm sure some would call me old fashioned but I honestly don't see how you can argue with the biology of something like that. But I would never stand in the way of someone who wants to change who they are.

Do you mean sex as in the physical act or the gender? I'm assuming you mean the first

If I see a wang... I'm still not touching it, don't tell me about chromosomes. =p

She still hs all of the plumbing of a woman, vagina found here.

+1 for her being a woman.

Eveyrwhere I have seen has said she doesn't have a penis, that she made no alternations to the lower half.

I saw this couple on some TV show awhile back, he looked male to me.They both seemed like quite nice, gentle people. I wish them and their child
the best.

Wow, a lot of you in this thread need to get the fuck over yourselves. Intolerant pieces of shit.

maybe we have drawn the line on whats acceptable and what is not? im very tollerant on what people do or how they do it but i have to draw the line when it comes to a woman getting surgically altered to look like a man and then getting pregnant and still calling herself a man. sorry dude that is just wrong not matter what psychedelic universe you are tripping in.

You are still incorrect, good "tolerant" sir. If nobody is hurt by it, it's not wrong. Whether or not it bothers you or anyone else is irrelevant. The only thing in question now is whether or not they'll turn out to be good parents. Only time will tell us this.

Um, saying 2 + 2 equals 5 is wrong, and just saying that doesn't hurt anybody. Saying she's a man is simply a lie/incorrect/inaccurate, or whatever synonym of "wrong" you want to use.

Doesn't mean that these people getting sex changes, estrogen shots, testosterone shots, etc... aren't fvcked in the head mentally. If they are that fvcked in the head to do shit like that, I doubt that they'll have the reasoning skills required to raise kids. Of course kids these day are so screwed up by shitty parents, what's another fvcked up kid.

as i said, mental malfunction.
thats fine and all but i don't think they should be called anything more than transgender despite the distortions the politically correct crowd will tolerate.

I kinda noticed the same thing in that area too. The few people I know of who are transgendered (or is it trasngender) seem to have a lot of emotional problems as well as baggage. I don't know what that indicates or what it means but I have seen a trend in that kind of mental state and transgendered people.

it is clear, i'm just not sure you got the memo ...

heh ... sorry ... I couldn't help it ...

anyway, you are, infact, confused.

transgendered means that someone has changed their gender ... see here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender

it doesn't have to do with from birth mutations or hormone issues ... and it doesn't even always imply surgery.

you seem to think that transgender means something that it does not mean.

::EDIT::

Oh wow ... I didn't see the second page when I posted this ... I see you already owned yourself pretty hard and other's have pointed out your major misunderstanding as well. my bad ... i'll leave the post tho cause the wikipedia link i think is still useful.
