Oddly enough I have a similar story. A friend of mine was at my house, and a friend of his was in the neighborhood. This guy came in with his six months pregnant girlfriend, and we were all sitting around drinking beer, and watching TV. She asks if she can have a beer, and I said no. She said why, and I said because you are FVCKING PREGNANT. Then she wanted to know if she could smoke in my house(no) and I grabbed her boyfriend and went outside. I said I hate to be a d!ck, but could you just take her home... I couldn't stand for someone to do that in my house. I saw the boyfriend a few months later, and they had broken up. The baby was born premature, and was still in the hospital at that point. He said she drank heavily and smoked throughout the entire pregnancy, and couldn't get her to stop. He broke up with her, but his insurance as covering the baby. The mother saw the baby twice since she had it at the hospital. He was there everyday and she spent most of her time drunk. He was trying to get custody and the time, and said dating her was the biggest mistake he ever made. I totally agreed with him. She was trash.

in jail is a MUCH better place for a kid to be born than out of jail w/ fetal alcohol syndrom... ever try talking to someone born with that? it's just not good what she's doing to this person's next 80 years of life, 80 years of non-retardation you can save.
I know of quite a few apartment complexes that have rules about where people can smoke on the property.
Next the mother will be a single parent with a disabled child and she'll be living in social assistance housing and she'll be wondering why the government is helping her out more. It has to start with proper education and enviornment. No point in doing patch jobs afterwards.

sounds to me you are looking for a reason to not interfere. If you are really worried about the baby then do something about it. the 2 ideas listed above are good ones.
the kid is not responsible enough to take care of a baby. if they are smoking pot and drinking while pregnant then whatever happens to them is justified. If they cant stop for the sake of there son/daughter then they deserve to be locked up.
I just hope you can sleep at night knowing that kid is going to have a hard life.

That's perfectly fine if you are going to continue to use drugs and drink. But as long as you do, you have absolutely zero right to tell anyone else that they should stop. Pregnant or not, you're nothing more than a hipocrite if you think she should stop and you shouldn't.

That is one of the most idiotic assinine things I have ever heard in my life. And I've met many idiotic people.
YOu said, it's the MOTHER'S choice. You are already assuming that she will carry the fetus to term. With that in mind, it is UNETHICAL for her to be consuming alcohol, smoking and doing drugs when the devastating consequences of her actions are almost inevitable. The caretaking of a fetus will ultimately have major bearings on its life as a person.

Depends. If he's talking about one or two drinks, that's OK. It's actually not terrible to have a glass of wine every couple days while pregnant.
However, he said that he smokes marijuana and that he drinks, the implication being that he gets drunk. If you think there is nothing wrong with either of those, then you've got issues.

I don't see anything wrong with intoxication, if you want to cause harm to your body that should be your choice, but seriously screwing up the life of your unborn baby is just wrong.

Girl: Yeah, #2. What are you doing here? Just waiting for someone? I'm waiting for my boyfriend.
Woman: I'm waiting for my boyfriend, too. He got out of prison today so I thought I'd meet him at the bus stop. So #2. How's the other kid?
Girl: Fine, but he was too big when he was born. I'm eating salads only and smoking a lot now so the baby will be smaller this time.
Woman: Oh yeah, I heard smoking makes the baby smaller.
Girl: Yeah, that's what they told me so hopefully the labour won't be so bad.
