Pregnant girl ethics

Yesterday I went to a kids house and his pregnant girlfriend was smoking pot, cigarettes, and drinking. Mind you I do all of these things, but I'm not pregnant. My friend and I told them off angerly, and asked the kid (who I used to be good friends with) why he would let this go on in his house. The girl responds to no reasoning whatsoever so I didn't even try much with her. We then left.

I feel really bad for this baby because the girl won't take care of it and her family is really messed up. Not on speaking terms with either of them anymore, what can I do?

Wow, that's horrible. The poor baby is going to end up retarded because it's mother is such a dumb b1tch.

Honestly do this, even if might be hard:

Find out when they are smoking pot/drinking and get their asses busted by the cops. A judge will help the baby out.

You could always snitch on them if you think the baby is going to be growing up in a sh!tty enviroment.

The world is a messed up place.

I was at a liquor store in Boston somewhere the other nite and this girl and her mom were in the store. The girl was pregnant and whining that she wanted some Alize (fruity cognac drink)... She kept whining until her mom bought the liquor. Her mom was paying for it and told the clerk that her daughter is pregnant. The daughter overheard this and screamed, 'I don't care, i wanna kill the baby'. She stormed outside and started smoking.

There's not much hope for some people!

Another option I've considered, but the issue here is the kid is 16. His dad isn't a bad guy, and I'd hate to get him in trouble (and I'm sure he would get in a lot of trouble) for having this go on at his house.

Of course the parties happen mostly when the dad is gone, so I would at least hope the cops go easier on him because of that.

It's the mother's choice, guys. Keep your anti-women, anti-choice noses out of it! It's just a fetus, not a baby; the woman can choose what she wants to do!

(For the developmentally disabled - I'm actually pro-life.)

We live in a culture where pregnant women are just that - JUST women, with all the choice belonging to them. If society rules that, pre-birth, the baby can be killed, guilt free, why should the caretaking of a pre-born baby seem any more important to these women than the baby's life itself?

Drugs/Alcohol at 16 isn't good anyway. You're helping everyone out, even though it might seem hypocrtical for you to be narcing on em. Consider reform yourself too. Personally I would do this even if this guy was my best friend, that baby's life shouldn't get f-ed up before he/she's even born.

Please no advice on my own use of drugs. I am not 16 and I believe anyone telling me smoking pot and drinking moderately is something I should stop 'because it is bad,' is completely wrong. Just trust me that my mind will not change on this issue, especially on an internet forum.

So I guess my choice are mind my own business, call the cops and have them deal with it or call child services and have them deal with it.

For the record my daughters mother stopped smoking and drinking etc. when she found out she was pregnant. I have always had the utmost respect for her for doing so. And my daughter turned out amazing!

In my opinion if a woman doesn't want a child, and will not care for it properly, she should NOT have it! And caring for it begins with conception as far as I'm concerned.

I will also say that a unwanted child is BETTER off in a lot of cases NOT being born IMO.

Because for all practical purposes they intend the baby to be born?

Agreed. I find it unsurprising that our society's attitude towards unborn babies (that they are disposable when inconvenient) has aided in this attitude towards caretaking an unborn child.

Speaking of cigarette smoke. The guy downstairs is on his balcony smoking all day, and the smoke goes into my windows, so I can't even air out my apt. I just told him about it, and he said he can't do anything about it, and to tell the manager, which I will on monday, but I doubt much will be done. So there you go. I either got to breathe stuffy air or cigarette smoke. I guess fresh air is not included in my rent. I guess I got him to stop caughing his lungs out at 5 in the morning directly below my bedroom window.
On the bright side, the lease is up in 1 month. So unless he dies of emphysema by then, I guess I am moving again, which is pissing me off cus I move every 6 months now.
