No I am not. ATi doesnt make ATi branded cards. Sapphire makes them.

Sapphire, for a while, was definitely manufacturing at least some of ATI's "Built By ATI" brand cards. However, this was several years ago, shortly after the R3XX launch (when ATI didn't have enough manufacturing capacity to keep up with demand).

AFAIK, ATI for the most part makes their own cards, although it is likely they shop out at least some of the manufacturing to other companies. It's difficult to tell, since most ATI OEMs copy the reference designs very closely, and it's not like you can tell from visual inspection which factory a part came from.

And even if the "BBA" cards are being put together in Sapphire's facilities (and if you have information about this that you are drawing your conclusions from, please link to it), that doesn't necessarily make them identical to "Sapphire" cards, since they could use different components, different PCB layouts, etc.

Preferred card maker is generally personal and dependant on what features a person is looking for.

No..stay away from the Asus x800xl, its underclocked by 10mhz, it makes a very minimal difference between standard fps...like 3-6 frames per second in games, but on the other hand the Asus has a nice cooler, LED and some exta bells and whistles to go with its software, its also the cheapest X800XL when I bought mine.

I've already got two of them. And three of the MSI x800XLs..

Find me another cheap x800XL with dual-dvi.

Anyway, If I'm talking about modifications for the card, then you come whining about the brand of the card. That's 2 different topics. I don't understand where your trying to go. I've seen your other posts and I agree with Rollo on this one, he REALLY prooves you wrong.

If you are in PC industry and have contact in Taiwanese nanufacturers, it is actually common knowledge that PC partners made Ati-branded cards and use the Saphire brand to sell in the channel and in retail. Another huge OEM Ati-based AIB partners is Tul which use Powercolor as their channel brand. They together make most of Ati-based design. Now, Asus and MSI are getting in the OEM market to compete with them.

Flextronics makes Nvidia OEM cards in the channel and all of the cards that used for review.

I think Sapphire are hard working people but they don't take care of their website/forums. I mean they make amazing cards and motherboards but their site still advertises the X550 and frigin Catalyst 5.4

That article would seem to confirm that, while both ATI and Sapphire contract out to PC Partner (Sapphire moreso than ATI, apparently), Sapphire does not directly manufacture ATI's graphics cards.
