HOTTTTTTTTTT... but hopefully it will come down it price rather quickly. I read one place saying that it would debut at $350.

Yeah and the X2 4400+ has a MSRP of $585, a month later, places are still price gouging. Maybe a couple of months now, you'll see them for $345.

Just noticed monarch has oem x2 3800+ in their combo section for $369! Says ETA of 8/10 as well.

Wow, good catch!
If they had a $399 7800GT I would be allll over it!

If they're at that level by the time I build a new system, I'll be on them like a fat chick on cupcakes

Ya right..

512k is plenty, and you don't see many gains with 1MB per core.. At least not gains worth hundreds of $$$$...

Chances are since its basically 2x Venice 3000+'s the chances are good..

Yields are hopefully pretty good, and I would expect 2.4-2.5ghz is a very real possiblity on most chips..

Great find, i hope it will come down more in price. AMD should be selling its X2 for less than Intel's Dual core if they really wanna dominate the Market.

WTF cancelation....
" Cancelled preorders are subject to a 15% restocking fee" Why do they have to restock something that has been cancelled??

Any suggestions on motherboard and CPU fan?

Im going to guess DFI (according to one of Anands reviews).... Also I didn't know BFG made mobos now.

Just an FYI: Not really a hot deal. Cost on these is ~$350. These will be in short supply for a while again (ala the 4400) but I would expect this price to drop pretty quickly once they get more common.

I doubt it's Newegg, or Monarch that's gouging anybody, it's just that the demand for the X2 4400+'s are so high that the distributers are charging more for these chips, so buy the time Newegg/Monarch/ZZF get a hold of them they've been marked up tremendously. Sure Newegg/Monarch/ZZF are taking thier markup, but i doubt that that percentage is any higher, than what they normaly charge. As everyone here knows once demand levles off the prices will follow... If I can just be patient...

If you want to OC one of these, I would wait to purchase. These are probably 4200 and 4600's that didnt meet speed requirements so wont overclock. Once demand picks up and they start clocking down good 4600's to 3800's, thats when you should buy.

Nope, distributor costs are fixed. For example, the distro cost on the 3800+ is about $350. The distributor cost for the 4400+ is about $580. The markups you see are definitely not comming from increased distributor pricing, that's all being added by retailers.

I bought my X2 4400+ Retail a month ago from Mwave for $625, ZZF was charging $640 and Screwegg for $739. Mwave also called me to let me know that my order had shipped and to expect an email with tracking number. That's customer service.

Also, Tankguys will be getting X2 4400+ Retail early next week. They're only charging $598. Buy from Screwegg and get screwed.
