I ought to watch Predator first if I'm going to check out that series! Yeah, yeah... I've never seen Predator. 🙁 However, it's just my luck, because I saw it was on some movie channel a week or two ago, and I decided to record it!

Dude...gotta watch Predator and Predators back to back.

I saw Predators back when it came out in the theater. It was alright.

Man Card.

Now.

😛

Well, jokes on you, because I just finished watching Predator. So, the man card is safe... for now! 😛 It was actually on AMC, and they have this thing that's kinda like VH1's Pop-Up Video that gives you a bunch of movie trivia during the movie. It was pretty nifty except for when it would spoil the parts of the movie with things like "Predator unmasked!" and put a countdown timer stating how many minutes (including commercials) it was away.

The unfortunate part is that I must not have looked too closely at Predator's airing, because Predator 2 was on right after it. 🙁 The next showing of Predator 2 is next Sunday on AMC.

Now I can go watch some of those review videos since I've seen Alien and Aliens already.

Pitchford strikes me as a huckster these days. I used to like Gearbox because of Blueshift and Opposing Force.

Basically, the problem is that gearbox sucks. If you analyze every game released in the past 15 years from them, one thing becomes clear: everything except borderlands and OP sucks. It really is unbelievable how this studio churns out turd after turd and nobody calls them out on it, it's disgusting. Randy Pitchford is a scumbag con artist.

I also agree with never pre-ordering - although I may for sure bets (blizzard expansions only), but never ever for anything else.

This has to be one of the worst releases in recent years?

Duke Nukem Forever wasn't as bad as this....

At least Alien games will go on with community mod releases.... Aliens mod for Killing Floor is pretty fun. I heard there is a AvP2000 remake for Crysis being worked on.

Also a comparison of demo footage in 2012 to what the final game looks like:

Thanks for that, it's some absolutely revealing video of why not to pre-order games.

Up to this point I at least believed it when footage was supposedly "in-game" -- not that it would drive my purchases; given that story and mechanics are at least equally important to me. But I at least felt comfortable operating under the assumption that if something was shown, even in a pre-alpha state of a game, it could only get better from that point until release. To think that companies might be releasing supposed gameplay footage with it looking better than actual in-game visuals is just going to make me that much warier of buying anything without at least some day 1 research.

Frankly, this kind of thing should be grounds for, if not lawsuits, at least some good'ole fashion boycotting. Because this is totally unacceptable.

I was really interested in this before the release. Thank goodness I don't pre-order many games anymore, because I would have demanded my money back.

What a mess.

At least we have all learned a valuable lesson:

Never, ever pre-order unless it's a sure bet. The only sure bets I can think of are Valve and Blizzard games, those two companies have never disappointed me. I do not trust EA, I do not trust anyone else for that matter when it comes to pre-ordering a video game - pre-orders are a no go.

Meh, I'm not going to cancel my Bioshock Infinite (Songbird Edition) or StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm (Collector's Edition) pre-order because Aliens: Colonial Marines was a massive flop.

I can respect that decision, I can't see Ken Levine producing a bad game. He is the mastermind of B:I and i'm sure it will be brilliant.

There are very few games I would pre-order though - only sure bets and games produced by studios with flawless track records. Gearbox software is not such a studio.

I don't agree. Eating a batch of bad shrimp does not mean all shrimp will give me the trots.

If you're getting collectors editions, I can see the preference to preorder. For everything else, there is practically 0 incentive (and no, an extra weapon is not an incentive). Sure maybe a % off is nice, but with the way prices come down, it's really STILL not needed. It's an outdated practice that really has no true justification in the digital download world. It's kinda like paying too much into taxes, giving them interest free money of yours to spend until return time, instead of putting that extra money away and getting interest for yourself.

It is also NOT showing support for anything...not sure where that notion came from. They are releasing the game on budgets and time frames, and no amount of preorders is going to change what the finished product looks like. This is not the same as kickstarters.

No, but if restaurants gave you the option to pay before or after you received your shrimp, and if your shrimp is bad you can't get money you already gave them back, I bet you would decide to not pre-pay.

That is essentially what the software industry is doing. They are saying pay us now and we will give you some software later. If that software is not very good, or even doesn't run at all, too bad we got your money.

That's really only with digital sales. For example, even if Bioshock Infinite is bad, I could just return it. I should see the reviews before I get the package from Amazon.

The restaurant example is odd because you can return food that you don't like. 😛

Keep in mind, if you ordered this from Amazon (digital) you can get a refund by emailing them (google for info it's in the Steam communities). You just send them links to reviews etc. Steam will not give you a refund.

I tell ya...as long as the story is decent and the gameplay decent, and it is half as good as the trailer looks, I will be happy.

It's not. It's nothing like the trailer. There is quite the significant outcry over this game.

It's new and it's all ready on sale for a reason. It's a shitty game.

game was horrible bought on launch day and played for for 2 hours.. and then deleted it never to be played again..
I want a refund.. horrible product.
