I was really interested in this before the release. Thank goodness I don't pre-order many games anymore, because I would have demanded my money back.

What a mess.

After D3, ME3, SWTOR, FF13/14, DmC, and this the game industry is really banking on making people lose interest in traditional big budget games. I hope they crash for the good of all of us.

They're releasing a new 4GB patch for the PC today. I poked around the patch notes, and they are supposedly cleaning up the AI and releasing new higher-resolution textures (hence the file size).

The AI is more dangerous, and textures are improved. Lighting seems to be as well.

Unfortunately there is also now a film-grain effect, and no way to turn it off.

Is this the patch that makes it fun?

* womp wah * ...cmon, no one has heard that one in awhile.

What are you talking about this game is fun. I haven't laughed so hard while playing a game in quite some time.

So this patch took a Troll 2 of a game and made it into Troll 1?

Oh man! 🙁

I love the silly Alien AI. 😛

Well see how much they can polish this turd. 😉

The story is still goofy which they can't fix. :\

Don't get me wrong I wanted this game to be epic but it turned out bad. However it turned out so bad it's charming. Like I said previously it's the Troll 2 of Video Games.

I found a pretty interesting article on Kotaku detailing possible reasons why Colonial Marines ultimately failed. The author claims he spoke with several sources close to the project.

In an attempt to sort through the rumors and figure out just what happened to Colonial Marines, I've spent the past few weeks talking to people with connections to the game. Some preferred to talk off the record; others agreed to let me report what they said so long as I didn't use their names. And the story behind A:CM—a story of dysfunctional development, miscommunication, and conflicting visions—has grown increasingly clear.

Yea I read this last week. All I have to say is, they all KNEW they had a bad game and they tried to dupe the community. There is no way they looked at that and said "damn this game is good". If they had truly cared, they would have pushed it back and said, we need to work on this longer.

As with any company releasing crappy products, they deserve any ridicule they get. They can always redeem themselves in the future, but that remains to be seen.

They will "redeem themselves" when they release Borderlands 3 or whatever.

Yeah I agree. Even though they we're trying to save face with SEGA by not pushing the game back any further, they should have just done it anyway. At the end of the day that would have be much better option than releasing what they did. For both them and SEGA..

I have to be like the only person on the planet that just doesn't care for that series 🙁 A:CM was the only game I was truly excited for, thus the extreme disappointment.

You're not the only one, I couldn't get into Borderlands either. I bought the original recently and quit after a few hours from boredom. To me it was pretty much a console"ised" grindfest, and the story wasn't really compelling to me at all.
