Here's few tidbits for you guys who are anxiously awaiting any table scraps of the new 7900GTX (I would be one of those). There's a link to another site that benches the GTX@710/930 with an FX-60@3.0Ghz and some scores of the GTX@stock with an FX-60@3.0Ghz.

Pretty much looks like a speed-bumped 512MB 7800GTX.

Update:

Also found some real SLI benchmarks. Look at post #503

Wow, even at those very high OC's it only musters 12, 287 with an FX-60 OC'd to 3ghz.
A similar set up from an XTX would have ranged in the 13k margin I think.

At stock GPU's it manages 11, 343, which again is lower then a XTX would muster.
With that CPU anyway.

interesting.

But whats important is how it fares with actual games.

If you consider the capability of the RAM (and where the core is), those OCs aren't all that high. There's room left there.

Wait for tomorrow. You'll have your results.

Oh yeah, one more thing.

If you really want to use synthetics to measure the capability of a card, I weep for you. :)

I guess it depends on the timings Nvidia is using with their ram. If it's anything like ATI's, I doubt we'll see much higher for ram clocks. Most ATI cards with the 1.1ns ram seem to top out at ~880MHz with some very few reaching 900-920 (using ATI Tool that is). That could be a factor of the ring-bus so I guess we'll have to wait for more results.

I dont think these cards were meant to take the performance crown, rather to just equeal the playing field in performance and price. They will be more or less equal for a while. Performance leader will depend on G80 and R600. We all win....when prices lower

Considering these cards use 1.2ns ram, they won't do better than ATi's 1.1ns ram unless they relax the timings considerably which would negate the gains of a higher OC.

but the higher memory frequency does sound much better to the average joe ;)
another marketing scheme?

Looks like 1.1ns to me joker.

Ah well I stand corrected, I was going by what DailyTech had wrote about the ram being 1.2ns. Well that said, what I said above still holds true. They won't really be able to clock the ram much higher than ATi unless they relax the timings on the ram or use higher voltage.

IMHO, 3dmark is becoming slightly less correlated with actual games with each version. Due to the optimisations that can easily be made in drivers, I don't look for anything other than actual games nowadays. Of course it is still worth a pinch of salt.

Looks like some high scores for SLI. Not sure how they compare to Crossfire.
But to be honest, I'm not interested in either.
7900 GT SLI on the otehr hand I might be.

ATI's current gen appears to perform better in benchmarks. we need actual game numbers

16K in 3DMark05 for two 7900GTX's aint bad if you ask me mate, but thats just my opinion.

I'm thinking of selling off my two 7800GTX's 256MB for a X1900XTX, think it's worth it mates?

I just sold my 7800GTs that were running at 550/1300 for the card in my sig and I'm very happy about the switch. It's a little slower in some games but they are games that were basically getting huge fps anyway so I can't tell a difference. In other games the X1900XT is faster and much less hassle than running SLI.
