Who will it be, Barack Hussain Obama Joe Biden or John Sidney McCain and Sarah Palin?

Why, since Obama doesn't GO by including his middle name, did YOU include it, while NOT including either Palin or Biden's middle name?

Nice dishonest move on your part.

I did not know what it was and nor does it really matter. So stop making mountains out of mole hills.

Damn.... Am I good or what?

Who is your candidate in the elections? (Total Votes: 100)

John Sidney McCain and Sarah Palin
30 votes 30.00 (%)

Barack Hussain Obama and Joe Biden
59 votes 59.00 (%)

3rd Party Candidate (or Write in)
7 votes 7.00 (%)

I am not from the United States of America, my vote does not count.
4 votes 4.00 (%)

The "I'm not from here" vote skewed my predicted results a tad... But it's nice to know how predictable this little group is. :D

Riiiiight. Obama's opponents have been trying to tie him to radical islam. You already stated you're not voting for Obama. Do you think everyone is stupid? In short, you're full of shit.

You know, I've heard that Barack Obama is going to make us pay reparations. Also, I've heard that his plan to enslave white men, take their guns and bibles, rape their women and then shoot their bibles with the guns that he took, is coming along nicely.

The old EWMTTGaBRTWatSTBwtGTHT plan.

Re-read. The thread. Stop assuming. During his reign I used to say from time to time, William Jefferson Clinton. I guess you will call me a bigot for that too.

Dr. Kavorkian's office called. He can't afford a reschedule before election time and wanted to remind you not to miss your upcoming appointment.

At the moment, third party

In otherwords, your tossing your vote in to the trash can.

Voting third party is not tossing your vote in the trash can. While they will almost never win office, if a third party gets a meaningful proportion of the vote it influences the policy positions of the two major parties.

Gore would have won in 2000 if they hadn't voted for Nader or if Nader hadn't run.

Yeap, he sure would have. I fail to see how this translates to a vote for a third party candidate meaning you are 'tossing it in the trash can'.

Yes, but the sample size is still rather small despite the fact Anandtech is fairly liberal compared to the rest of the USA. 140 out of 190,528 registered members is not much even though about 5-10% of those may be active members.

Only if you break down ethnic groups by white/not white. That would of course be pretty insane.

Because you know he's not going to win. Voting 3rd party would net the same electoral result if all those people stayed home. Bush wins.

So what if he's not going to win. Did you read my post? He doesn't have to win to have an effect on the major parties.

If there were no third party option, then who would you vote for; Obama-Biden or McCain-Palin?

So Essentially you are saying you would be happy with either one of these candidates, but in an election year with the race as hairsplitting close as it is; voting 3rd party is rather dumb. You really should blame yourself if your disappointed by the outcome.

I might understand your point at any other time where a landslide victory is nearly inevitable. Voting 3rd to make a "statement" (a small one at that) might not be seen by many as tossing your vote in the trash.

The term that's used for it is strategic voting. It's why primaries coalesce into 2 candidate competitions very quickly. If I lived in a swing state I would vote for Obama because my #1 priority is the defeat of McCain. Since I do not live in a swing state, I'm free to vote for the person that best represents my values, and that's Ralph Nader. So... that's who I will vote for.

You aren't going to change the world with a third party vote, but you can put greater emphasis on the issues you care about, and that's why it's not a waste.

Go back and study up on the Harry Truman presidential campaign..

EDIT: I am glad you are happy with Nader, I respect that.

I was a political science major and a US history minor, I know all about it. What's your point?
