Not only has Obama not turned it around, he has made it worse with the insane amount of spending.

Inform me again about that economic model you use? You know, the one that determines what the course of the U.S. economy WOULD have been had no stimulus at all been applied. That amazing economic model that's going to win you the Nobel prize.

The only model I need is one many people seem to be lacking: "common sense". You can't indefinitely borrow and borrow and borrow and borrow and spend and spend and spend without negative consequences. Nobody has the answers to the "what if" scenarios, but we certainly know that the current way of doing things is unsustainable and the US is due for some sort of major correction.

There is no arguing with someone that uses dumb logic like you do.

Obama: Pass the stimulus and unemployment wont go past 8%!!

Meanwhile, unemployment surges to 10%

Apologists: Imagine how high it would have been!!!

Fuck, if unemployment were 70% you would be saying the same fucking thing. Face it, it failed.

Palin is never ever ever ever going to win the GOP nomination for president.

what should be more concerning is that Obama is running behind some of the more likely candidates, but even that... we're 2 years away from polls starting to matter.

When did "wookie" ever become a racist term for a black person? I think the word you guys are looking for is "great person." Seriously, people can go around turning pictures of George Bush into a monkey and there's no problem, but calling Michelle Obama a wookie is racist? Stop creating racism to try to draw attention away from the one thing that matters: she looks like a wookie.

Would it have been more racist if he would have called her an ape? Because I see no practical difference.

Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk.
Apes are primates that are normally associated with Africa.

God you are the worse debater on the board. You never have an original thought.

If unemployment had not risen or dropped, you would have said the economy was turning around anyway. You would have found some weak ass article from some conservative that had some trumped numbers and you would have posted it like it was gold. But I can't wait for the day after in 2012, when he is elected again, by we the people. The fallout is here will be epic :).

in related news, we haven't had a terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11 because we're fighting the terrorists in Iraq, and my cellphone protects me from tigers.

Judging by the latest gun thread you made yourself look like a fool in, I'd say that crown belongs to you.

Oh you mean the thread where you and "the gang" could argue away the CDC and the FBI info so you just melted down?

nick you have the IQ of a blade of grass, crab grass at that...............

It doesn't make a lick of sense, twat. If unemployment had actually gone down, I wouldn't be saying unemployment rose. Obama promised it wouldn't go above 8%. He was wrong. Admit it.

Dude no matter what the fact, you would cop some bs against it.

Unmployment goes down, you would state other factors and ultimately say Obama had nothing to do with it.

Umemployment goes up, you say the stimulus failed and he was wrong. Was he wrong about the stimulus or the projections for the stimulus?

Doesn't matter because nothing he says or does will translate into you giving him credit.

You're a lacky and a flunky for "white power". Now go blow you masters dice. I gotta go hit these weights, gotta stay prepared :).

Your stupid ass would be confused. Here, let me try again. Obama said unemployment wouldnt go above 8%. Its now almost 10. He failed.

Dude no matter what the fact, you would cop some bs against it.

Thats what you think, but I have given Obama props on certain things I feel he has done right. This is not one of them

Unmployment goes down, you would state other factors and ultimately say Obama had nothing to do with it.

No

Umemployment goes up, you say the stimulus failed and he was wrong. Was he wrong about the stimulus or the projections for the stimulus?

It did fail. He was wrong

Doesn't matter because nothing he says or does will translate into you giving him credit.

I have given him credit on some other issues.

You're a lacky and a flunky for "white power".

You don't know the half of it. The hardest part isn't being creative, though; the hardest part is being the first person to respond to the opportunity. All of us white guys just troll around with responses pre-typed hoping we're the first to hit reply because anyone after the first gets exiled for racism

Quick, find me a video of this promise saying unemployment wouldn't go over 8% if the stimulus package was passed. Or find me any transcript or news report on a speech where he made that hard promise.

I bet the best you can do would be a clip saying that "unemployment could hit double digits without the stimulus package" or something along those lines. If you wanted to stretch the truth you might find a Romer and Bernstein report that included projections to 8.5% with huge disclaimers that projections are all voodoo anyways.

Back on topic, I sincerely hope Palin runs in 2012. That's the surest way to guarantee an Obama win. If she's smart, she'll make a strong appearance rounding the country with stump speeches but not throw her hat into the ring. She'll then keep her name in the news as much as possible for a 2016 run. (Odds on Bristol and Levi are getting married, divorced, reconciled and with a new kid before Palin runs: 50/50.)

Yea I know it was just your duty to explain calling Mrs. Obama a "great person" is what would amount to racism. Yea thanks, I am sure none of us knew that before you so graciously posted that.

"They are referring to a Jan. 9, 2009, report called "The Job Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan" from Christina Romer, chairwoman of the president's Council of Economic Advisers, and Jared Bernstein, the vice president's top economic adviser.

Their report projected that the stimulus plan proposed by Obama would create between three and four million jobs by the end of 2010. The report also includes a graphic predicting unemployment rates with and without the stimulus. Without the stimulus (the baseline), unemployment was projected to hit about 8.5 percent in 2009 and then continue rising to a peak of about 9 percent in 2010. With the stimulus, they predicted the unemployment rate would peak at just under 8 percent in 2009."
