In that case, a lot of people are going to be sceptical that it has 500+HP and can do an 11s 1/4 mile. It's certainly easy enough to make a car "look" fast. Of course seeing the engine bay doesn't prove much either, but the lack of pics certainly makes one wonder.[/quote]

Just pointing out the obvious that I could post pics of my stock Civic and claim that it has all sorts of sweet stuff under the hood but most people will call BS.

You sound a little defensive there.

Because the big selling point of carbon fiber, despite what people say, is not weight reduction. It's looks. Carbon fiber is chrome for the new millenium, you put it on the car because it looks cool, and then when people say it looks crappy, you can say "but it reduces weight" as if that's actually the reason you bought it.

There is a muffler behind that tip. When you are pumping 500+hp you need that type of exhaust.

Those kinds of mufflers don't actually muffle very well. About an inch's worth of stuffingaround the through-pipe.
 
Is there a you cant paint carbon fiber or do people just not like doing it for reasons stated be notfred.

That car stock will run 0-60 in under 5 seconds and do the 1/4 mile in the 13s at around 105 mph.

Regardless of what you think of the looks, this car is not your average econobox sedan.

BTW-Braking and handling are also on par with sports cars costing 3-4 times what this car cost.

What does that prove about this car? Nothing.
Right now all we see is a whole lot of pseudo-performance mods with nothing else to back up the claims behind it.

I'm not passing judgement on riciness, but right now there's no evidence that this is anything more than what it appears to be - an Evo with some primarily aesthetic modifications.

I'm not saying it's as slow as a stock Civic, I'm just pointing out that there's no reason to believe that it's THAT fast, and I don't.

Carbon fiber was initially developed for use in aircraft because it's strong and lightweight. It's used in a lot of new aircrfat designs, including the upcoming Boeing 7E7. Here's a rendering of the new boeing jet. Note that it's not black. Note that you've probably NEVER seen an aircraft that looks carbon fiber, because they paint them all.

If you're going to claim a car puts out over 500HP and does an 11 second 1/4 mile, I'm going to want to see more evidence than a carbon fiber hood and a close-up of some cross-drilled rotors.

500hp is enough to drop to the 11's in an EVO. Much, of course, depends on the launch, shifting, suspension, etc.

Well, he swapped out the stock clear tail lights, at least he has SOME taste. 🙂

I kinda like it. If he painted the hood and trunk I'd like it even more though.

i personally dont like cars that are show and go. I like my cars that are fixed up but not too much where the clean original lines are broken. Its a nice car dont get me wrong...but i wouldn't do that if i owned an EVO...but hey its their money
