Power supply amperage guide?

Is there a guide or chart somewhere which gives recommendations for the amperage that a PSU should provide for the various processors and system specs?

I understand every system is different, but something like this:

Athlon XP 1800

Budget to Mid-level system should have at least 15A on the 12V line

High end systems should have at least 25A on the 12V line.

....just basic recommendations.

Right now, I'm looking at snagging a closeout case, an Ahanix Integra with a 350W PSU. It'll be running an XP 2000 (no overclocking) with minimal components. Basically just a web surfing PC. I imagine it'll do fine for that job, but I'd still like to see a guide for future reference.

Also, has anyone heard anything about Ahanix cases/PSU's? TIA

That's very nice for selecting the right wattage; I'll definitely keep it bookmarked, however, I'm specifically looking for info on amperage without having to email manufacturers for tech specs, which is probably what this guy had to do.

I actually thought about doing something like that awhile back. Thank god he beat me to it!

I am not sure what you are looking for.. but if you want detailed amperage ratings of a PSU, Newegg often has pics of them.

That 350W PSU should do the job. If you start overclocking, and adding hard drives, then you might want a quality PSU. Cheap PSU's generally aren't good about hitting their rated outputs, and some of them will actually burn out if they do. For a basic system though, I'd say that it'd do the job.

For the most part 18Amps for the 12V line should be enough for even a high-end system.
It depends on the components, so just read the rating for each device and add up the amps for the particular voltage rail it'll feed off of.
