So I've had Bells Palsy for five months now. For those who don't know what it is click here.. I got it fairly bad. The full onset lasted about a month. After that I started to get better quickly. I would say that I got 85% better within a two week period. Of course I was very happy. But my eye still didn't blink all the way, and some of my facial muscles didn't work all the way. But I was happy enough. They say that if it lasts for more than three months you will probably have the symptoms that you have forever. The symptoms that I still had was an eye that would run constantly because it couldn't close all the way, and my face would hurt. So I pretty much accepted that my eye would water forever and my face would hurt....hey it was still better than having it full on.

So fast forward to about a week ago. I was at work and my tongue started tingling. This is what happened when it first came on. I was kind of upset and thought it might be coming back. But I wanted to make sure so I just let it be and didn't go to the doctor. By the evening it had gone away. Then I noticed my eye was starting to blink a little more in the following days. Now it seems that things are getting better. My eye doesn't water nearly as much. Almost not at all. My face doesn't hurt any more. And it seems to be getting better every day. I just figured I was lucky.

So today my mom calls me and says that she was thinking of me last week and that she put a request at her church for everyone to pray for me because I was sick. It was right around the time that I started feeling better. Actually exactly the time that I started feeling better. I AM a religious person. I go to church every Sunday, I pray every night, I believe in the power of God. I'm not putting anyone down who doesn't, nor am I trying to shove my religion down anyone's throat. I'm just giving my experience.

I'm glad God helped you out.. I guess all the other millions of people that die every day just don't pray hard enough... I don't mean to diminish your good fortune.. Congratulations....

P.S. I'm going to run off to spend the next 72 hours praying that God resurrects my dead grandfather like he did Lazarus.. He did it for that dude, why not my granddad?

I love to hear stories like that. I've seen a few first-hand, and it's always an awesome thing.

coincidence is a funny thing, so is the affect mindset can have on the body. Give a lonely person a pet and guess what happens? give 100 people hope and 100 people despair and guess which group does better? Sometimes it is amazing how simple things really are. Keep positive.

If you didn't get better, would you be saying prayer is useless? That's the kind of thinking that keeps religion alive and oppressing.

I heard that the hijackers of those planes prayed right before smashing into the world trade center... I also believe that the hundreds of innocent people on those planes prayed as well, praying to be saved.. I guess God was too busy that day..
