Power (?) issue with NEC 20WMGX2

So this morning I press the power button on my monitor, I turn it off each night, and the power button as far as I remember has always been a little 'wonky' like turning it off is no problem but sometimes whenever I try to turn it on I have to press abnormally hard or from a certain direction to get it to 'take'. However once I saw the power light on the monitor turn on I'd never had a problem before, today though when I pressed the power button the light comes on for about a second then just goes black again with the display itself showing no activity.

Tried the usual stuff, disconnecting it from power entirely and pressing the power button, reconnecting the cable, checked the outlets, but everything there is fine as far as I can see. If the problem was just the button not making the connection, I don't think I'd see the power light come on at all, so I'm not sure what to make of it simply blinking on for a moment and then disappearing. Any ideas where to go from here?

I got it refurb from NEC last year and it did have a year long warranty on it, unfortunately I'm about 3 months over that now ><

I have similar wonky issues with power on 20WMGX2 (i have three of them).

Usually the problem is associated with cutting power (power loss for the house, or tripping the power bar) while it was on, and it doesn't want to turn back on. Alternatively is when the power button just doesn't want to work.

It is unfortunate that they put a button that does not push straight....

Anyways one way I get it to work again is to pull the cord, and try it from a different outlet. The best solution to avoid problems is to not turn it off (of course this is not the ideal scenario)

Yea, if I get it back on I'm thinking of leaving the thing on just to save myself the hassle, it's not the first time I've had some trouble with it.

Stupid question, since I never really remembered it was even there before today, if you hit the power switch on the back while the monitor is turned on, turning it off, and then hit the switch again to enable power, does the display turn back on or does it require you to hit the power button again?

If you hit the rear switch I think you have to turn it back on. I don't touch that switch ever (except when this issue happens because I try everything to get it to work).

Do you have the remote? You can power it on with that.

Oh, nice. Yea it's in a box in my closet but I do have it, maybe I'll give that a try if it happens again. Dunno what the problem was but whenever I went home I toggled the switch on the back once and then the button worked fine, so annoying but at least no permanent damage. Thanks bass and morph.

Bleh, it's happening regularly now. Annoying at worst, I seem to be able to get it working after flicking the switch on the back and pressing the power button a couple times (the light will usually come on at least once with the switch off) and then flicking the switch back on. But still has me wary that one of these days it may not come back on. Time to take that remote out of the plastic at least.

When I had the lost power issue the remote does not resolve the problem
