I plan on it(going to the Boston one), but I'm not sure. It's on a Tuesday and I have to figure out what I can do about work. Also, I'd like to know the detailed info on the CPU and mobo.

edit: thanks for thetraders for the specs. And yes, I would also be curious if it was acceptable that we showed up late.

Okay, who's in the Irvine area and is going to that one? PM me because I'm interested in car-pooling/splitting costs. So far, it's just me and two of my business partners going, but it'd be fun if we get more people on board!

Boston, MA! Sweet!!!

Do you have to pre-order the bundle on the site to get it or just register on that site and then get it when you go there?

Their website says the bundle can be only ordered online ahead of time...

Thanks! I was waiting to find this out. Venice core makes this hot. Just ordered one for the Burbank show.

I'm going to the Irvine locate (take half day off and drive from Walnut). I'm planning on getting both bundles since I got so many cases at In Win to test them out. But my question is, what kind of Opteron 246 AMD offered? Is it the newer power saving HE or the cheap "$300 on ebay for 2" version?

It's probably the regular version, which is like $300 new nowadays.

For anyone who is trying to resell it on eBay, I just checked and it's not worth it.

Supposedly, the price you may sell it at:

Opteron 246 x2 == ~$600
Tyan Mobo == ~$400
Win2k3 Server 64-bit == ~$300

Athlon64 3200+ == ~$200
ASUS Mobo == ~$120
WinXP 64-bit == ~$150

But yeah, eBay is inundated with cheap USED processors and mobos. Due to the lack of brain cells in the average eBay buyer (my buyers always demand "new" items and compare my price to "used" items), you're probably not going to have much of luck for such a huge investment. The margin of profit (if there *is* any) will be quite small :( That's why I'm getting out of eBay after I sell one last item in my inventory :

But this server deal is good for me since my Consulting group can charge the full $1400 price for the server package to willing customers, and the Desktop bundle may be marketed as a "budget" server for about $450 :)

I would like to trade the mobo for an ASUS K8N-DL somewhere on the web, do you think it would be possible? If it is I might go ahead with the Server bundle so that I can build a workstation.

I just got back from the Chicago tour. Holy mother, biggest group of nerds this side of a Star Wars convention. I only stayed for half of it, IE the free food and the bundles. At the show here you got the bundles at the dinner break. Lines like you wouldn't believe. Waiting to get in, waiting for food, and especially waiting for the bundles. The speeches were rather lame although the main speaker seemed like a cool guy. If you're into the SUPER details of AMD processors this is for you. I got both bundles and I don't plan on keeping either :).

For those who already got the package: is the Win XP box labeled as "not for resale," or is it a full retail version?

Did you have to order it first online or can you just order / purchase it there?

The XP Pro 64 bit has NFR rihght on the front, the server one doesn't but it says something about understanding the limits of the license or something.

I recommend purchasing online first. They let people purchase them there that didn't order them online, but they needed a story first (server timed out was one of them :) ). Not sure if that'll be the case at every venue.
