Does anyone know if that 4port USB hub thingy we got is USB 1.1 or USB 2.0? I don't really have any devices that are 2.0 😉

For those of you buying the desktop bundle, what RAM are you planning on using with the A8N-E?

I'm not going to it, but my friend is. I'd get the cheapest one on ASUS Qualified Vendor List, but I'd avoid value RAM such as Corsair Value Select if you're doing overclocking. Some OCZ Enhanced Latency sticks can be had for about $110 (it's a $25 premium from the Corsair VS) at Newegg

Edit: Also, to clarify: The board doesn't support double-sided modules I heard. So you might want to watch out for that

Doesn't matter your 1.1 will work with a 2.0 hub and your 2.0 devices will work with a 1.1 hub.

I'll be attending the ATL event, and I've gotten a group of 10 or so local geeks up to all attend, should be a good time for all.

Thanks to all for the information on core versions, etc.

Ditto except ill be at the seattle one 🙂.

Fyi, I can confirm that the C0 Opterons work fine on the K8WE.
They just aren't fully "supported" apparently.

and does putting your high school as a company work?

I don't know about the company thing, but I've heard you can sort of make something up and they won't care too much (YMMV on that, I would wait for someone to respond who's actually been to one, to verify).

As far as I know (could be wrong), there is no cost, and as far as the age thing, there's no limit that I'm aware of. One of the members on the forums here who I talk to (neonerd) has gone, and he was only 15 at the time.

thank for replying also do they accept debit card for the bundles?

I assume they will if it has a Visa logo or the equivalent on it, just be aware that the temp hold will lock up your funds, unlike a credit card.

I know that, but I want to know if I were to get new 2.0 devices that if they would work on this hub at 2.0 or not

Does anyone know if the new MSI K8N Master2 FAR will work with the C0 Stepping? It seems like a great motherboard plus it is ATX so you can use it on a mid tower.

By the time the one in NJ rolls around, do you think you can buy the desktop bundle cheaper than $250?

Maybe, or maybe not, but I honestly doubt they will go below 250. Assuming it's Venice, Venice 3200+ is going about $ 200 this day. I heard there probably is price-drop by next month, but I doubt it will be a huge drop. And even if it's huge drop, max drop will be 20 bucks. But I seriously doubt that will happen. But considering the lowest possible, I expect around $ 170 for CPU. Now mobo, A8N-E is about 130 bucks right now. Again, I doubt it will drop from 130 to 80 in two months.

Unless really weird thing happens, the combo will be worth more than 250, more likely about 300. That's my expectation.

Haven't read all the replies, but to those concerned, I've confirmed myself with AMD that it is indeed the Venice core 🙂

NO! Even if, somehow, the hardware drops to below $250, you're forgetting that this includes a copy of Windows XP x64 edition! That makes the deal sweet no matter how much the price drops!

Yeah, but Windows XP X64 version is available for free right now from Microsoft if you already own XP Pro.

Still no pics?!

I'll be going... I'll pm ya

So is the food free or no? I'm still confused about that one. Also, I plan on buying the server setup to make some cash... to make a server would cost a bit more especially since I am going for a 1U server, its just going to be to hard. Has anyone seen the prices people are trying to get for 2003 x64? from what I have been told the 2003 is retail from the show, so resale is fine i assume....

Can anyone confirm (Leaverus?) 2003 is or is not retail? or is it NFR?

Its a sad day in the forums....

In a forum of technology not one person has a digital camera or means of hosting a few simple pictures.....sad.....

I'm starting to wonder, do they even allow camera's/camcorder's in there? No one has any pictures of the tech tour?
