Have you been stuffed into the bullet trains by the transit workers yet?
They don't stuff you into the bullet trains. Take a look at some pics of the insides and you'll see why. I did get pushed into a subway though by the agent dude, that was fun. And yes, women-only cars on the subway are a very real thing.
How is the food? and how is the public transportation?
Food is good. Transportation is excellent, though the English signage could use a bit of work.

Is it really rough if you can't speak Japanese?
No. As long as your pronunciation of Japanese words is OK (eg locations or food), you'll do just fine.

Also, the people are insanely polite and fuck mainlander tourists, Christ.

In general, good teeth or bad teeth among the general urban population?
I didn't notice anything out of place with the teeth. I did notice that the girls tend to use a lot of makeup though (or aren't competent enough to hide that they use a lot).

Im planning a trip there for next year around April. Cant wait to go. I'd suggest posting pictures of where ever you go. whats the hotel cost like over there for a traveler?

alot of people have messed up teeth there. i think dental work is expensive in that country. tons of makeup too

looking forward to going there for two weeks in november. what did you do so far? are you going for work or strictly vacation?

mainlanders are the worst. every time i land in narita and a flight from beijing lands its chaos. people literally just blatantly cut in line in front of me at immigration and customs and have no shame doing it. loud as hell too, everywhere

My Japan geography sucks... Mainlanders? That term's usually reserved for Chinese mainlanders (i.e. non-Hong Kong).

And I've priced airline tickets before... Is Narita the "good" airport? There's one or two more when I pick an airport in Tokyo.

I'm under the impression that he means mainland tourists from China.

Narita is very far from Tokyo. Haneda is much closer.

Narita is 30ish miles from Tokyo, which is a 30-40min train hop. It also handles almost all of the international traffic.

it's more like an hour 20on the narita express or an hour on the keisei skyliner.

too bad all of the flights coming from the US to HND land at crap times, usually like at 11pm or later.

My wife is returning to Japan next week for a wedding. Her flight arrives at 21:03.

Um...the skyliner gets you to Tokyo proper in 30-40 minutes. Never had it take longer than that...unless you're including a transfer to the Yamanote line and a final destination on that loop.

Is it a bad idea to go if I don't have a clue how to speak Japanese? My wife is half Japanese and she doesn't speak it either.
