HP 311. Yes I know it kinda sucks but it was a Christmas pressent. I`m going to use it as my bed and basement web browser. With only 1 Gig of ram I;m thinking of picking up another Gig though. It`s running XP right now.

Netbooks with XP and 2GB ram are sweet spot for portability, price and performance for me. Make sure you get Flash 10.1 if you use Flash at all.

I must be Linux cursed or something. Every time I install a Linux distro I end up slowing down my machine for some reason.

I usually reinstall Windows and kill their automated crap installer during the process, or install a "lite" version of Windows.

Yeah I could have done that. However the PC didn't come with an install CD. The only real way for me to do it would be to install a pirated copy of Windows, which I have plenty of lying around actually, but I'm trying to use mostly legit software.

I also picked up a cheapo 20 buck wireless optical mouse which is turning out to be a Godsend. Place netbook on knees and use the mouse off to the side on the book and you never have to look at the crappy touchpad again.

I use a trackball when I'm in bed with mine. Otherwise, I don't mind the touchpad.

Probably the only 3D game I could play at any resonable frame rate but no I will never install WoW. That game is evil!

I REALLY SUCK at RTSs... so yeah that's not going to happen any time soon. Too bad too cause I sort of enjoy playing RTSs.

Playing any RTS on a netbook has the be the most exhilaratingly comical experience ever.

Why specifically? Screen size? I can imagine the cramped screen real estate doesn't help.

Just going by Anandtech's review of it. Personally I'm finding it to be not bad at all. Course I'm not going to be playing games on it any time soon. But other than that it seems quite nice.
