E5200 at stock speed.
2 GB Crucial DDR2-800 at stock speed.
FoxConn G45M-S G45 chipset with VGA and HDMI outputs.
WD 80 GB SATA drive.
Video is the new integrated Intel X4500HD.

3.9 on an old system (Dell SC400) consisting of:

2.4ghz Pentium hyper-threaded (the weakest link)
Radeon 9800 Pro
3gb of 6 year old ram
2x100gb PATA hard drive

To say I was surprised is an understatement. Will post up scores on a 4 year laptop after I finish install. I'm really tempted to install this on my main rig (5.9 in Vista) but I use it for work too and am worried about downtime.

If you do the upgrade, it could be down a few hours. It took a little under 2 hours for my system.

Makes 3 people with base scores of 5.9......lol.

Most people are going to have a 5.9 or less because you need to run in RAID or have a SSD to break the 5.9 barrier. A Raptor might break 6.0, but there are few hard drives fast enough to break 5.9.

Just finished install on an Inspiron 9300 laptop, score of 3.0.

Pentium M 1.6ghz 533mhz: 3.0
2gb ram: 4.4
Graphics (geforce go 6800): 5.5
Gaming graphics: 4.3
80gb 5400rpm: 4.3

Very snappy considering this laptop is about 4 years old.

Installed on a spare old SATA150 drive and it really killed my score. 5.2 overall, everything but the HDD is 6.2 or better

Windows 7 Experince Index

Abit IP35E
Core 2 Duo E6420 = 6.5
HD3870x2 = 6.2
6gb DDR2 pc1000 = 6.7
Samsung 160gb sata150 HDD = 5.2 :brokenheart:

download and install went smooth without any proplems. all devices detected and correct drivers installed by the setup.

Come on where's the all out 7.9's with SLI + i7 + SSD Raid!

SLI does nothing for aero desktop performance which a pair of 295's score 6.5. 10 15K SAS in RAID0 on ARC1680ix-24 w/2GB cache get 7.0 for disk. 😀 i7 at 4GHz gets close the (max of) 7.9 at 7.7.

I don't like this performance grade and I wish there was a way to remove it. Server 2008 omits it. I wonder if Windows 7 based server will be Server 2010?
