This thread was inspried by my local radio station today.

I know AT people come from all walks of life and would be good to know what goes on in the back ground on where you work.

I'll start with a few so you get the idea.

I used to work at the Bakery, and at the front of the case where all the pastry are, the freshly baked stuff is in the front while the day old stuff is in the back.

My friend used to work at KFC and he tells me the way they make the BBQ Chicken is that, they use the Extra Crispy Chicken that they can't sell and soak them in water over night, and the next day, when the workers come in, they dump a load of BBQ sauce in it and then reheat it.

I think we all know this one, my uncle used to work at UPS, and they literally dont care how they treat your package, as long as it gets to its destination, let the company (UPS) deal with the customer and the insurance claim.

I think you guys get the idea..

Now let em all out!!

=)

At my job, when we put people on hold to go run some numbers down at the accounting department, were actually just sitting there with our calculator. 🙂

Haha I might get in trouble for this one, but at Starbucks, the "coffee of the day" decaf and mild is really just week old coffee that no one bought that we grind up. It really isn't as bad as it sounds, because coffee will stay fresh for a long time.

You my n00b friend need to learn what a true 'Nef' is before you start calling others out 😀

You're just another number to any bank.

The ideal customer never calls, never writes, just pays fees.

Next.

See now, what you just did. That sir, was a NEF 😀

Anyway, back on topic...

True. Used to work for them too - worst job I've ever had. Only thing that mattered was processing as many packages as possible at any cost. (Meaning f-ed up packages aplenty)

1 in 15 people will use an extended service plan.... = ~1000% pure profit a day on warranties alone for retail stores. Warranties can reflect up to a 30% bonus for managers.

unrepairable products (too old, too new, too costly to fix, too cheap, etc..) are returned to the manufacturer for a full refund (even beyond 3 years depending on the manufacturer) @ cost.

Most fortune 500 companies take out life insurance policies against lowly employees. I forget the estimates, but roughly....around one in 50 minimum wage employees croaks on the clock, and the company can pay the other 49 without blinking.

Glow in the dark condoms need a thorough charge in order to noticeably glow, however the direct light/heat required to charge them can render them ineffective, hence the "novelty" warning on the label.

At a theater my friend worked at, they would save the popcorn that didn't sell that night and use it again the next day.
MMMMMmm stale popcorn 😀

If you go to a Gateway Country store, no matter what you tell the salesperson or how many certifications you have, you're paying for extra training, software, and warranties. The company basically forces you to lie to the customer and add in training and software they don't need. No matter what the salesman says, you've paid too much somewhere. ALWAYS buy from the website if you want the best deal
