Newsgroup downloads always max my connection at 120 down but Speedtest only shows me at 60-70. Are there any more accurate speedtest sites?

it depends eniterly on the server you are using to test your speed, speedtest.net uses hundreds of servers around the globe and usually picks the one with least ping, however there could be a server slightly farther away with 1-2ms more ping but double the bandwidth, try a few servers near you to compare and see if it's you, or the servers.

I don't know if it's more accurate, but it does seem to be consistent: Speakeasy Speedtest

Too true. I've gotten better and more consistent results from servers outside of the Dallas area, despite being located in Dallas.

This, you should also only expect to get what you were sold by your isp to the drain. I always get pissed off at work when someone submits a slow speeds ticket on there 20 meg connection because the server they are trying to reach has a crappy connection or is hosted on a dsl line.

That speed from Suddenlink? I'm lucky to get 30/2 from them. I do live is a slightly smaller city then you...

Wait. God damnit, it went backwards. Oh, duh, I'm limited by the 100Mb/s switch fabric. But the upload isn't. Time to complain.

Where I live is posted under my user name, 30\2 is the fastest connection you offer here. I have asked several times of the year if there are any plans to upgrade this speed, not looking good so far.

TWC upload is just horrendous compared to the DL speed. 0.99, give me a break, good thing I dont do any uploading other than some photos to Image shack etc once and a while.

Comcast recently rolled out updated firmware for my modem, mine received the upgrade today. Same speeds I've been getting since last week, but now the modem runs in native IPv6 mode.

Faster than 66% of GB 😎

I went up to the north of Scotland recently and they're using 256kb DSL up there, it was pretty tragic. Some of the less lucky ones are on 2G mobile dongles and get <56k speeds D:

Agreed. Mine is 30/1, but I just realized I'm getting mixed speeds. The 30Mb down plan ($65/m) should have 5Mb upload, and the highest tier with 1Mb upload is their 15Mb plan ($45/m). Since I'm only paying for the 15Mb plan, I guess I can't really complain...
