got my C566 from Buy today it was not stable at 851M. Seems stable at 808MHz. anybody can check for me if the setting is right?

MotherBoard: MSI 6163PRO: SW2 open SW3 short
BIOS CPU P&P: 100MHz
Vcore: 1.65V
MSI-6905 v1.1: J1 Open, J4 short 2-3
Vcore set to 1.65V
J3 short 1-2 (Coppermine 256K, should I short this?)

Any idea how can I O/C it to 851 stable? Thanks a lot.

Bit,

I have almost identical setup as you. I also have a soyo and tyan board.

MSI 6163 Pro (Latest bios)
MS 6905 1.1
V3 2k agp

Can't get it stable at 850. Doesn't load into windows and get weird graphics distortions. I can't figure out how to adjust agp setting to 2/3. I'm thinking maybe agp is at 100 Mhz when I set fsb to 100 Mhz.

Rainmanx,

well I can load into windows sometimes at 850MHz without any
graphic distortions but it's not stable.

My video card is ATI Xpert 128. I guess MSI 6163PRO is not good
at O/C.

Guys with the MSI 6163 pros, try pulling both sw jumpers, if wont post, put back on. For your information, at 100MHz and above, the AGP on that board is automatically at 2/3. More voltage too, all the way to 1.8 if you have to. :)

Running 892 Mhz (105 FSB) at 1.70. Runs stable!!! Does rounds and rounds of r5c and I went through 3dmark 2000 twice. I think it might go higher if I bumped the voltage higher...

Its at 1.70 now, but I haven't really checked to see if it can do less voltage.

I'm using the stock fan and heatsink. Abit BM6.

935mhz 2.1v I know the voltage is really high but the cpu temp is only at 100 degrees F which is not that hot

yobo, What areyou using to cool your chip? I assume its a retail 566 but 100F for 2.1 Volts at 935 Mhz is something else. Its not that hot. I run a P450 @ 504 and its at 100F under load. Max temp is about 150 ro 160 F for most intel chips.

Anyone else run there celeron 2's in the 2 Volts range? Is this safe with a good heatsink?

850 MHz at 1.75V using retail HSF, MSI 6905 Master Slocket, Abit BE6-II.Week 18 chip L018A330-1055 SL3W7.Haven't tried more yet, waiting for the Globalwin FKP32 I ordered. Most of the thermal tape melted and went away(I reached temperatures of 62C under heavy load that's why I'm not trying higher until I get better cooling).I'll use the thermal paste that comes with the FKP32.

My new retail Celeron 566 is very stable at 850 ! :)

fpo/batch L018A519
s code SL3W7
pack date 05/19/2000

Running at 1.70v with retail fan/heatsink on my trusty BH6 1.02 and an Iwill slocket 2.

edit- I'm using the retail heatsink just as it comes; with the tape. Also it runs at 91 degrees, about 4 degrees cooler than my 300a at 450. (I don't think the the temp sensor on the BH6 gives a direct cpu temp so I don't know how relevant this number is.)

Well, I got to 850 Mhz. Woohoo! Now stable and able to run through 3dmark2000 loop without crashing (it crashes when cpu temp reaches 108 F). Had to increase voltage to 1.75V and using retail heatsink.

I think better heatsink or increasing to 1.8V will make it completely stable.

** U P D A T E ** Its totally stable now. Running it at 1.8V. No crashes or lockups.

My budget computer, a Celeron 2 566 runs 850 at 1.6v with temp at idle of 84 degrees F. Under load for about 3 hours it gets up to as high as 100 degrees F, (ambient room temp is 70 degrees F). It also runs 893 at 1.8v but I don't like to run the voltage that high and I really don't see much of a difference. To fully load it I run 3DMark2000 in continuous loop for about an hour followed by 2 hours of Quake 3. It's running on an Abit ZM6 with a GlobalWin FDP32 and Viper TNT2 Ultra. All I know is that it's an OEM week 14 Malaysia chip. Got it about a month ago.
My gaming computer is a Coppermine 700 running 980 at 1.7v on an Asus P3V4X with a TennMax cooler and a CL GeForce DDR clocked at 160/340. Needless to say I don't use the Celeron machine very much anymore.
Regards, Skitzer.

Hey. I've already put this in the other thread (shame on me):

850mhz out of the box @1.65v
MSI 6163pro (ver 2)
MSI 6905 slotket (coppermine compatible version)
Thermalkite Golden Orb

I have an identical setup that I was using previously--Cel2-566 on 6905 slotket with orb--and I am now running my Buycomp chip instead of the original combo. The Buycomp retail chip seems to run quicker and smoother in windows (original chip is an OEM with the different ID numbers); 3d stuff like SOF, Counter-Strike, and Total Air War look exactly the same.

Woo hoo hoo!

My non retail chip does 1088mhz@1.90 stable. It can run Windows, but no games as high as 1139@1.95v with questionable stability. I have seen it post and boot into dos 1200mhz with fresh water in the system. Ice water would probably allow me to boot to windows at something close to 1200mhz, but that is not practical. This is one I got locally and I picked it for it's low voltage at 1003mhz.

Can I say wow? You are one serious o/c'er.

I think 566 running at 8.5 X 133 (1132 Mhz) is the holy grail.

<< we should have a poll here... >>

How about everyone going to http://www.overclockers.com and adding to their interactive database? It already has a lot of data on this chip.

I had sold one to a buddy of mine. Retail box. Generic slotket (with slot 1 boards, cost under $10 out the door).

892
105 FSB (next step 110, will post, start Winblows splash screen, lock)
1.70 volts (maximum without BIOS flash trick, didn't have time to try any lower)
retail box fan/heatsink
Abit BM6
only had about 30 minutes on it, seems stable at 105 FSB

850
100 FSB (wouldn't post any higher)
1.70 volts (up to 1.80 available, but didn't make any difference)
retail box fan/heatsink, generic slotket
Asus P3B-F (saw chip as a Pentium III, perhaps that's the problem)
About 4 hours of Quake3, no problems. I know this system can run higher FSB because it was running a Pentium III 550 OC to 825 (150 FSB) until I took it out to try the Celeron II. With P-III in it, got higher frame rates.

901
106 FSB (using same slotket as on Asus P3B-F)
1.70 volts
retail box fan/heatsink, generic slotket
Abit BF6
this is the system of the guy that owns this chip

Same CPU and retail box fan/heatsink was used on all three boards.

I posted two of mine on their database. Never had much luck going by the s-spec's posted there. Just got very lucky stumbling across my current chip. I was owed one, I had a hateful 400a that would not overclock at all once...
