For the hell of it I plugged in two Japanese names to see what it would do:

Midori (Beautiful Bird) -> Ayumi (to go alone)
Akiko (Child of Autum) -> Ayumi (to go alone)
Kaede (not sure, I think Maple Leaf) -> Taiki (Radiance)

Seems almost random :D

Japanese has an entire alphabet that in modern japanese is devoted to important foreign words, it is called Katakana. My name is Charles. What is it in japanese? Charrusu.

Also, there is no standard way to go from english to katakana, for example, I have had dealings with 6 Japanese professors now, and all 6 write my last name (Milutinovic) differently in Katakana. Also, when your learning japanese the translation can sometimes seem purelry random, for example:

necklace : nekkurasu
necktie : nekutai

Why neku vs. nekku? No particular reason (yes I know old japanese had vowel-ordering).

Also, foreign words are EVERYWHERE in japanese, and it has gotten to the point where some people of the older generation literally cannot understand the speach of the younger generation. Search around google, there are plenty of articles about the first true generation gap in Japanese culture thanks to the invasion of foreign words.

If you want an example of how invasive it is . . .

hot (temperature) : atsui
hot drink : hatto <insert drink>

hey now, i may not have a strong foundation in japanese, but i still think i know enough to tell what uses katakana has. this is just for funs and giggles you know :p

Is there anyone that can verify this doesn't mean something like "ultimate asshat" before I get the tattoo.

That was my result too.
