I've noticed in the past year, since they implemented their "Partners" program where they begin pay approved users to upload videos a percentage of the ad revenue, the quality of YouTube content has gone up dramatically. In addition to this, the fact that you can download many videos at 1080p (which work well in full screen mode on my 24 inch Dell UltraSharp) give it a very "television" ish feel.
I think YouTube is the future of video and it will slowly replace TV. Sony even makes a "Google TV" where you can surf the web and watch YouTube videos on it.
