It takes less than 1.0GB to backup all my stuff -- usually every 6 months or so.

I use a decent quality 16.0GB USB flash drive. (Kingston Datatraveler Elite 3.0)
 
Computers do full system backups to a NAS, automated. (Time Machine and Windows Backup.)

NAS has RAID-Z in case of hardware failure.

NAS backs up to Crashplan.
 
I use Casper Secure Drive Backup 4.0 to make a clone of my Windows 8.1 bitlocker enabled drive about every 3-4 months.
 
Windows Home Server 2011 backs up everything everyday on all family systems. All important files are duplicated on separate disks on the server. The WHS server is automatically backed up daily to an external drive.
