iv been abusing this chip since launch and im not worried about frying it as im going to slap a ivy bridge in there pretty soon.

My max on this chip is 53x103 with an insane 1.625 unloaded vcore lol i dont even want to see where it goes when there is load on it with the 130% over current enabled, prolly hits 1.675 ish

My chip alaways needed more vcore but it made up for it in clockspeed on the back end.

So much for " 1.35 " safe voltage..

I'm back :D

I guess my chip wasn't tapped out like I thought at 54x

Seems like this baby had at least the 55x option available to me. Of course I had to do some pretty advanced trial and error voltage manipulation.

Without going to more insane voltage I think the chips tapped out. Guess it's not too shabby for the red headed step-child chip from Intel :)

Maybe in another 30 days or so I'll see if it's tapped or not. Thinking maybe with LN2 the chip could be a real monster....Of course I'll never find out!

I didn't realize this was going to turn into a competition!

I reran my 2500k and i3 550. The 2500k wouldn't budge past 4.8 on reasonably low voltage (1.4), so I left it at that. The i3 would probably go higher, but not likely very much without a big voltage spike.

i5 2500K @ 4.8: 736
i3 550 @ 4.4: 667

Pentium-M Dothan @ 1.6GHz - 182

I did a few comparisons of other cores at 1.6GHz by doing a few simple proportion calculations:

Pentium 4 Northwood - 94
P5 90 - 98
Celeron 300A - 131
Athlon 64 - 186
Core2Duo/Core2Quad - 226
X4 955 - 221
Core i5 SB - 245

Good calculation on the i5, that is basically what I got too from taking the averages of the 2500K's to 2700K's scores posted here.

(2500K's to 2700K's - Averages out of 18 entries)
Avg MHz = 4690.77777777778
Avg Score = 720.722222222222
Avg MHz Per Point = 6.5084406074154
Avg Point Per MHz = 0.153646635241727

1600 x 0.153646635241727 = 245.8346163867632

Is it just me, or does it seem to like Clock Speed more than anything else? (For example, a X2 6000+ beating a lower clocked Sandy i7?)

If we look at all the results I think you may be correct.

Cause regardless of IPC higher clocked chips are at the top.

But there are few that don't show this like 43 vs 44

Also to OP please add my laptop

SonyVaio Z i5 460m @2.53ghz, 13.3' 1600x900, 4GB, 128GB SSD (Raid 0), Geforce 330M

IPC rules just like in the real world. But to some extent IPC can be overcome by higher overclocks as seen in the chart.

When tesing chips with the same or very similar IPC the highest clocked chip will win everytime for the most part.

Hold on everyone! I would like to proclaim myself the winner here.

Settings: 8X AA and 16X AF. Tessellation on High.

Decided to give my i3 530 a shot. Cranked it up to 4.5 GHz and this is what I got. Not bad!

well
now we see some interestign thinks in the chart
the buldozer is lower under the previous genration of amd
and liano is better
so it is what we see in ipc perfomanc eof the cpu
the program is not mutlithreded and i think it reacts more to ipc and hz than anything else
i run it twice with task monitor open and cpu usage was never above 29%
so thats one core ?!?!?

Very interesting chart Edgemeal.

Thanks, fixed post #172, the i5 460M - 2530MHz was at the top.... I was like WTH? So looked it up, its really 2800MHz/turbo.

People need to post the real CPU speed / Turbo speed!
