Damn nice Technonut CPU you got there....
Thanks.... :) I just bumped up the FSB one more notch....Scored 10,000 Even!! If I counted correctly, that puts my score as 16th in comparable AMD XP processor speed and Radeon 8500. ;)

I will loop the benchmark overnight for stability, then run UT in spectator mode with 16 bots and a 999 frag limit. I was running at 1900 MHz / 190 FSB before, but kicked down the RAM timings some and upped the FSB. No artifacts or tearing. My Sandra memory bench is now @ 2856/2638.

EDIT: The Radeon is not overclocked.

Oh and My 3Dmark2001 title is

X-Micro Geforce4Ti4200 @ 315/625 With Detonator 40.41

And for some reason my Epox 8k3a board at 133 FSB clocks my Athlon 1800+ at ( 1.537Mhz )
but im sure the extra 4Mhz does nothing !

Yo, speedy,

I've got these Asus drivers installed (latest version) do you think installing the new Nvidia drivers could make a difference.

The new 40.xx Nvidia reference drivers mainly boost the performance in the "Nature" test, at least this is the most visible effect. Overall my 3Dmark2001SE score went up by about 700 points with the new drivers, but I believe this is mainly coming from the optimizations they did to the shaders operations, there is nearly no effect on the "car", "dragothic" or "lobby" tests.

I am running them stable since a couple of days, so you should have no big issues using them.
Cheers
Speedy

Yo Speedy,

Got a free performance-gaine this afternoon, clearly the gain is in the nature test. I saw a framerates up to 106 allmost dubbeling the performance in this test. The lowest framerate was around 70 (the part where you go flying towards the house)

got 11.168 marks on the same default settings.

Thanks nvidia.... and thanks Speedy for the tip..

Regards TFD

get den40.41...you can also try setting yoru D3D quality setting to BEST PERFORMANCE...you should gain about 10fsp - 15fps...but den40.41 gives you almost 30fps to 50fps...

Raising my cpu up from 2.5 to 2.8 ghz increased my 3dmark almost 900 points

I wish i knew how those guys with similar systems to mine are breaking 15K

Are you overclocking your video card?

Yep. It's a 4400 o/c to 307/658. Anything above that and I get artifacts.
I really need to get new ram though, so I can run at 375ddr instead of 280. That should help considerably

Just overclocked my Ti4200 to 4400 speeds: 275core, 550mem

640x480x16: 15353

"Game 4 - Nature 136.0 fps" :) it must have lots of overdraw to speed up @ 640x480 so much

Updated score with a retail Radeon 9700: (Copied from my thread in the video forum)

I managed to obtain another Retail 9700 from one of my business suppliers, and it is doing well. It does not take well to the high FSB I am used to running with the 8500....But the card rocks! ;)

With the 9700 not overclocked, it is pulling a 3DMark2001 SE score of 13972 . UT looks and runs beautiful with the goodies turned on @ 1280x1024x32. I will be testing other current games when I have the time..

EDIT: Updated score.

OK I underclocked back to 2.55ghz (600fsb, 400ddr mem), and set videocard to 275/550 core/mem (just like Ti4400). Got 12497 3dmarks this way. This is still 11% faster than 2.6ghz with 250/444 core/mem on the videocard.

The lower speeds give me greater peace of mind, since I have a >3% safety margin from highest known stable MHz.
