I couldn't agree with both of you more. I'm not asking for MLA-style writing, but at least getting the basics of English grammar correct would be a great. Since we're reading text on the 'net, and not listening to the way a person says something, sometimes the "jargon" or mispunctuated can leave its interpretation too vague, and people end up taking things the wrong way. It's frustrating, but I'm learning to live with it.

The one that drives me the most nuts is: LOL.
If you are friggin' actually laughing in your home, you don't need to type out some stupid acronym saying so.
Of courses that is followed by unneccesarly 'short-cut' words: kewl (hell is that about?), prolly (idiot), anything that involves the number <8> (h8, l8tr, etc).
On the other hand I have used the words Bah and Owned in real life well before I became a profesional internet junkie.
Woot is another one that kinda bothers me, but I catch myself using it once in a while, so apparantly I don't hate it that much.

I use l8r when signing off an Internet game. I used to use kewl, back when the Internet was new and I was in college. As for the whole l337-speak, I only use it to make fun of the true lee7/hax0r crowd. I also usually use a small "heh" instead of LOL; it is rare moment when I do actually laugh out loud while surfing the 'net.
BTW, I like acronyms, but stuff like NE1 is annoying.
