Very useful and cool FREEWARE MP3 editing utility: MP3 Trackmaker 1.2. You load an MP3 file and play it simultaneously in Winamp. You press a button in MP3 Trackmaker and it grabs the Winamp position. You can do this numerous times and it shows the list of positions you have grabbed. When you have all your positions you press a button to create several separate MP3s, with your positions marking the start and end points of the files. VERY quick, too.

Task Plus...to do lists; calendar, etc.

Easy to use; print reports; etc.

Is ad supported, which in this case doesn't bother me....can always get "paid for" version which has no ads...up to you. I use it and am very happy with it.

taskplus

Look around their site; also offers "spam buster" email program mentioned in PC Mag...and other programs.

🙂

I'll chip in.

Psychic Mp3

Basically, is uses cddb info to rename your mp3s based on album. Very quick, very easy. You can adjust the look of the tags anyway you want. Only problem I have had is that it crashes from time to time. But it is free and it does do the job better than anything else i have found.

Didn't come up when I searched so I'll post this

Cookie Wall from Analog x works like a charm. Deletes automatically or prompt for action on every cookie that trys to make its way in. Excellant for keeping spyware out.

i used trillian. i did not like it at all. the original chat programs are what i find to be better.

Some people can't handle change. 😉 For the rest of us, Trillian is the way to go. Who would want to mark themselves "away" 4 times on 4 seperate programs? I mean, c'mon!

I cannot even imagine a life without trillian anymore! I love it. I hate when one of the IM companies change something, and you gotta get a new version of Trillian, but overall, IT IS GREAT!

You can find all the following at CNet, except for the last one

My Personal Diary: Exactly what it implies
MacroAngel: For automating tasks (keystrokes, clicks, etc)
Quick Menu Builder: Awesome for making Autorun exe's for your burned CDs (FREEWARE)
ABF Value Converter: Convert units of distance, volume, mass, fuel and plenty more
The Training Diary: Very comprehensive tool for any endurance athlete, multisport included. You have to go to www.science-sportsware.dk to get this one.

Forgot to mention the Gazette which is a privately operated PC news page, but there are tons of links to spiffy tools. The spell checker listed in the lower right corner of the page is great when posting in forums such as this one. It adds a spell check function to the right click menu. Works great and you can't beat the price.

I've used both Statbar and CoolMon, but I've chunked both in favor of Samurize. It's more of a hassle to set up, but at the same time offers more flexibility.

An example of Samurize on my desktop.

A really well done Samurize desktop.

It can also be docked into your taskbar.

Directory Printer? lol:

dir /a/s > file.txt

or

dir /a/s > prn

I think prn works...if not lpt1....that should print it heh. I hope that program has a lot more options than DOS does 😛

WinRescue

They have a version for XP, 98, 95, NT, ME.

This is a valuable tool if you are always fixing your relatives' or friends' computers because they messed it up installing some crappy software. I create a backup before I install any new software, so I can revert back when I decide to uninstall.

It is not free ($24.95), but will save you many headaches.
