Here's another one, freedos. You can download an ISO image of Beta8 H1. It's a bootable (Eltorito.sys) DOS image and you can run it directly off the CD if you want to without installing it.

This is a plugin for Winamp that is extremely usefull for games, but usefull even if you don't game. I haven't read this entire thread so maybe this was mentioned:

Reproduction Control v1_28

This allows you to make Hotkeys for functions like Next track, Previous, Pause, Play, etc etc. Without it if you are listenening to music while you game and a song you're sick of or just don't like came up in your playlist you'd have to listen to it. Now you can skip around without minimizing. You can even use it on your desktop, helps there too. I have CTRL + (Right Arrow) set for next for example.

It can do a lot of other stuff too. It can sort your playlist every time you add a song, autodetect insertion of audio CDs, start when winamp starts, start playing last played song when you exited as soon as you start Winamp, etc.

It is only for Winamp 2 but that's what all my plugins are for so that's what I use. Well worth it.

QuickTime Alternative 1.0
FINALLY! A Quicktime WMP codec! There was a "Full-screen Quicktime" player released by some other company, but it didn't work as a browser plugin and still required Quicktime to be installed (So embedded web content was still postage-stamp sized). Now we can view Quicktime content in full screen and throw it in a playlist with everything else!

I went to 3ivx.com (A website for a DiVX 3.1a, DiVX.COM 4-5 + Quicktime MPEG4 codec) a long time ago and posted in their Open Quicktime forums requesting a Windows port for a WMP plugin (It was an open-source project intended for linux users). They said it was possible. I wonder if this is an attempt at that?

I found it on the REAL KaZaA-lite's site (There are a lot of impostors) :)

Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder

Found this in CPU magazine's utility issue (Anand's mag ;))

It's been a LIFESAVER. Anyone working at a computer shop knows what I mean ;)

Now I can finally dig up my lost keys and restore customer computers!

It can recover Windows XP, 9X, ME, NT, & 2K keys.

It can recover Office 97, 2000, & XP keys.

It allows you to change 98, ME & XP keys after installation.

A big "F-U" to the guys that flamed me for asking if it was possible way-back-when! (BTW, they said it wasn't possible too.)

MS is screwed if people use this together with The Blue List's XP, ahem, "utility" like a certain computer shop I know (I might report him) but I have met people who needed to legitimately.

Keyfinder alone has saved my arse many times since that issue was printed! I had a few of my HDD images with applications I couldn't afford to lose and couldn't reinstall without the key and I have had to use it at work.

The cd reader in my computer at work is LOUD. I'm playing a wma file (2mb) and it's spinning at 40x making a heck of a racket. Worse yet, it spins up, reads for about 30 seconds and spins down. Try listening to your wma's over that noise.

I download CD Speed and limited the bastard to 16x, which quieted it down nicely. There's a lot of options, including KEEPING it at 16x when you boot up and switch programs. Great program, it saved my ears.

speedFAN - I searched for months trying to find something like this. It's basically software control (within windows) for fan voltage. It's like a soft rheobus that can vary speed based on sensor temperatures, or just stick to manual modes. It goes from 0-12v and works on lots of mobos.

Here's some appz that help when browsing... certain stuff.

IE Image plugin. Right click on a page with a gallery of thumbnails... and it creates a page with all of the full sized images on it that the thumbnails linked too, and nothing else. You can just scroll through everything and not go back/forth clicking thumbnails while getting annoyed by ads.

http://www.webattack.com/get/ieimage.shtml

Autosizer Automatically makes IE maximize new windows. Luckily it doesn't seem to maximize windows that are meant to be a certain size. Thanks lenjack!

PopUpCop Best PopUpKiller I've ever used. Playing whack a mole is not fun with popups.

Flash Get A very nice download accelerator. For large files it splits the file into multiple downloads of sections of the large file simultaneously, then peices them together when it is done. Also has an option where you can right click a page and select "Download All By Flashget" to rapidly save all the images on a page (you set it for images).

Enjoy.
