Used this one while in the Navy to order repair parts. The yellow background with green text made it seem new and exciting.

This HP Pavilion XH365 was the first laptop I purchased. It was used for school.

The first is a Fujitsu Lifebook C series purchased new in 2001.
The latest is a Dell XPS M1710 purchased new in 2006.

Wow, wasn't that hard to google it up!

BUT, if you really want to get down into it - I was rocking this thing before the Bondwell 286. I recall programming assembly in it before I learned assembly on the VIC-20 But I do recall assembly on the VIC-20 happening before kindergarten. Might have been BASIC, and I figured out what ASM was on the 6502 (c-64), which is actually more likely because I had that thing for years and years. Sort of my introduction to microprocessors. Pity my 3rd grade teacher didn't understand much of it when I brought the tandy in for show and tell:

If you count the IPT:

Well I've never been much of a laptop user. My first one was bought only about 5 or 6 years ago and I now have a 2nd one so there's not a huge gap between these:

I still have it. It's a neat little machine, and I've tried to think of a use for it, but I keep drawing a blank :^D It's a great form factor, but it's just so damned old at this point. I could see something like that having a solid niche, even today. I'd buy one at the right price. It's like an iphone, with a surprisingly usable keyboard.

Truth be known, I don't either, I haven't really ever found a keyboard I like (for tactile feedback) , a keyboard layout I like, they're a pain to mod other than simple stuff, like adding RAM or putting in a different HD, the list goes on...

They've been a backup computer for me if my desktop goes down. And don't get me started on slow ass netbooks with Microsoft's arbitrary limitations on specs so they don't crowd traditional laptop sales.

Lenovo T400 (Meh, the screen quality is not in the same ballpark as the T43p's Flexview):

I remember reading a story online of a soldier using 95lx for artillery calculations in the first gulf war. Not sure if that helps you :)

I have a few T42's, and a T60p...I rarely use them, my iphone is plenty capable, as is my desktop, haha.

And my D630, and Dell E6400 from work.

My first laptop was some old Pent 4 Toshiba.
