Um, what happened to the 2007 that led you to buy a new one only year later?

to make a long story short, my 07 mbp had multiple superdrive failures, so apple replaced it for me with the current one at the time, which was the 2008 mbp. instead of taking back and keeping my old mbp as the exchange, they actually shipped it back to us. my dad was actually going to buy a brand new mbp, but he settled for just using the 07 mbp we got back. he doesnt want the current one because, at the time, they didnt have a matte option.
