Yes. What poeple basicly do is say "Well, we don't know <something>, so god is obviously behind it". Once that <something> is explained, they just retreat into another unknown.

So god will exist for as long as there something unknown, regardless of how much science progresses.

umm...how about NO. Athiests try to use evolution to explain away God, but the theory itself is benign.

This is a preposterous statement. I guess it may be your opinion, but it's definitely not the idea behind evolution. I'm pretty sure the ultimate goal is an understanding of how animals change over time, why they change, and what causes these changes.
