Are those TN servers open to anybody? I haven't played since early or mid 2008 because I got discouraged and I want to start playing again pretty badly.

Ugh, so nervous. I haven't played in too long. What are the current no-no's on most servers? I don't want to find a nice server and get banned from it. Not that I think I will, but I'd rather be safe.
No, it isn't. I never do those things anyway. I was more talking about people booting me for being an utter noob and not playing their way.
almost all the updates are quite overpowered. The Direct hit is ok, but tbh, the damage increase is only ok. It doesn't work well with kritz, and it's more situational than good all around.
Targe resistances are waaay overpowered. You take the targe, then you just use the bottle, and you charge in and rape people. No need for eyelander imo. The fact that you can crit with the bottle makes it better. You charge in and crit, and you get a good % chance of critting afterwards.
Equalizer: OP as shit. 25hp, moves faster than a scout, very high chance to crit = epic win. Also, I might add that it seems to just flat out kill me sometimes, without even critting me. I've been at like 120 I think and boom, insta-death from 1 hit. It didn't show a critical.
Buff Banner: Minicrits for your team in a large-medium area. Probably the best upgrade overall. Kill a few people or just damage them. Then activate it and everyone gets minicrits 😀.
you're right that you need to switch, but I think it's more that the amount of demo's and soldiers right now, make many fewer heavies. In this way, it's just rape. Still think they are a bit too high. I think more fire damage resistance(as burning goes through effective hp), and say 50% instead of I thiink 65% blast damage reduction would be better. The charge allows you to run away just as it does get close.I should have the DH, but for some reason I never got it for the 2nd milestone achievement. Regardless, it seems pretty powerful to me if you can aim it well.
This is mostly because people are thick-headed and can't understand they need to switch to their shotgun to kill a Targe-equipped demo. Not pump rockets/pipes/flame furiously at him which are only doing 35% of their regular damage. And if you have the Eyelander and get a few heads, a demo's effective HP can get as high as 700-800 with it equipped.
I don't believe the Equalizer has any component to increase crit rate. It just increase move speed and attack damage. I don't think it's too bad because if you get it to the OP state, you're a hair away from death. Soldier deserves the kills if he can get behind a few players unseen in that state. I'm finding it tough to get more than a couple kills before you're tracked down.
Love the Buff Banner. It's great for cart pushes where 4-5 of your teammates are gathered around. On Pipeline, I had two heavies, another soldier, a medic, and a pyro with me and we just steamrolled. The great part is that as your Buff Banner is active, you're already gaining damage towards your next bugle sounding! By the time the first was over, I had a second one ready to go.
I didn't get anything for me second milestone either.
