Ran memtest86 on my system, and it came up with about 15,500 errors while running tests 3 & 4. I have recently installed my PNY Geforce 6800 GT in my system, and haven't had much fun running down all the bugs I have now. I updated my vid drivers to the most current from the Nvidia website, and ran memtest86 again. This time I only got 3 errors, all during test 4. The error-bit(?) was identical with all of the errors, '0010000'. I have 2 sticks of PC3200 256MB ram in there, I'm gonna try one at a time with memtest86 to see if one or the other is bad, or am I just spinning my tires and need to try another route?

I also can't benchmark my system with the new card using 3dMark03, it usually crashes in the latter portion of test 2, the battle of proxycon. Up to that point I'm not seeing any drop in framerate, but all of a sudden it drops to the desktop?

make sure all the old video drivers are cleaned out of there good. I installed a 9800 Pro, replacing my Nvidia vid card.. and it worked ok for a while, then I upgraded my ATI drivers and random lockups and all kinds of crazy stuff started happening.. I cleaned all the old video drivers, including the ATI drivers and reinstalled and those problems went away. Although, I must say that I never ever had problems when I updated my Nivida drivers though.

I bought them in June '04 when I upgraded my system with new cpu and mobo. I had similar problems at that time, but after upgrading the ps and installing a good fan on the cpu, the problems went away.

I am pretty sure I cleared out all of the old ATI drivers before I installed the new card, I uninstalled all of the ati software and then removed the display drivers in my hardware manager. Any other places I may need to look to find something I might have missed?

Oooh that driver cleaner did the trick! While the cab cleaner was running, the system locked up and I had to restart my computer. I took me about 3 hours and I forget how many BSOD's to get my system back to any kind of operational status. I couldn't even get the computer to boot in safe mode for the first hour alone. I don't know what that POS cleaner did, but I will never use it again....
