Last night on c-span the nominee for Cent Com opined that the US had sufficient troops in theater to prosecute the objective. I'm not too sure. It seems to me in a country of Iraq's size as few as 10000 loyal Saddamists could attrit American troops to the point of frustrating the military operations there and the public support for it at home.
Finding these soldiers is important as well as finding a means to avoid similar instances in the future...

It appears that the vehicle and the occupants were somehow abducted

Aleins are now landing in Iraq instead of a isolated farmhouse in Iowa. I donno this quote just stikes me as odd.

WTF??? Is wrong with you. It sounds like you are happy that they are missing/maybe hurt or dead. Remember those are your countrymen even if you don't agree with thier leadership...which I certainly don't.

I think Moonbeam is trying to remind you of the bigger picture. IE, you guys shouldn't even be there.
Everyone is sympathetic to the individuals missing, hurt, killed in combat. That doesn't mean the point isn't true.

No I think Moonbeam just has take a jab at the war, president bush or reality whenever he has the chance regardless of how inappropriate or callous it might be. Given the choice i'd rather be abducted by terrorists then have to listen to half of MB's posts. Some do have merit but good lord needle in a hay stack.

Well.... let's say he (moonbeam) said the opposite... (It's nice to invade other nations.) From this I'd conclude the subsequent event was pleasant. If he was sarcastic in the 'It's nice...' then I'd conclude the subsequent event was not pleasant... since the sarcastic 'It's nice' is essentially that which was posted one can conclude that both the subsequent event and the invasion were not pleasant and to eliminate the former eliminate the latter next time.

I think we can see now SH's strategy: Let them in, then strike in small numbers, strike often. This can go on for years, decades even.

SH has not given up, he still has plans to get back in control(notice I didn't say power, he still has power) just not control. he will always have power there as long as he is alive, maybe even after death thru his sons etc.

So all that bluster was just to say that if you didn't want them to die you shouldn't have sent them over there. Splendid. Thanks for the insight.

But this thread is not about the righteousness of the war...it's about missing US soldeirs. To make a trite comment like that shows an unconscionable lack of solemnity for their sacrifice. When the soldiers were interviewed before the war started, every single one I saw said they were going into Iraq to liberate the Iraqi people who couldn't liberate themselves. Not one of them said they were going to conquer Iraq or uncover WMD or bring glory to the Bush administration.

These men volunteered to fight and possibly die for what they believe in. In one day as a soldier they've shown more conviction for something than you have in your entire life. And you dare to treat glibly news about their safety? You severely need a life.

I don't know why I posted that. I just read the thread title and the posts and it sprang into my mind from somewhere deep within. I don't know what it means, but I know it has some deep psychological significance on some plane of existence. Perhaps it was a Rorshack in which we could see ourselves. I know the tone of voice I heard it in was like in the ad, "It's not nice to fool mother nature." Perhaps that is a key. Perhaps we've violated some cosmic principle of justice and now we have to pay. That would be rather horrible. It would be like announcing that the sun will one day become a red giant and burn us all to a crisp. I suppose if that were to come true it would be my fault.

Naturally if it had been up to me they wouldn't be in this mess in the first place so I can't imagine WTF is wrong with me, tnitsuj.

were trapped there now, we can't leave, if we do SH will most likely go right back in control, if not it will be a even crazier mess no matter what.
I feel things will get worse not better. how long will we be there? 5, 10 years?
unless we can get somebody else to take our place...............??????????? like ??????????

Ps: we must kill SH and sons as soon as possible or at least capture them. this may make it worse at first thou, with more attacks.

getting them is far more important than find the WMD, if any , or if WMD of any significant amount
