Any idea whether it improves performace for the 6800 NU?
Thanks.
Well, McArra and Otis both have 6800GT's. So they would know best I suppose.

Well, it's only great if they got the gains with hard work as opposed to neutering the cards on the first go round to make the new driver appear better. IMO, that would be a knife in everybody's back. Especially since the early adoptors (like myself) paid more for the early boards than people who will be getting their cards now. The t-shirt I got with my card wouldn't really make up for that.
That being said, I think that is a pretty bold accusation on the inq's part, and I hope they have more to back that up other then, "these drivers are faster".

Did'nt nVidia "release" a driver set to hardware reveiw sites only when ATi released the 8500 or 9700? I remember something like this awhile back. They were Beta drivers only given to reveiw sites to use against the latest ATi release and did'nt make it to WHQL because they sucked at anything but a benchmark apps.
I hope this is'nt the same sort of stunt. And I hope they benefit 6800U users like myself.

I fully expect Anand to go back on his word and do exactly as you say.
They're already leaked...Originally posted by: GTaudiophile
Just watch, nVidia will quietly "slip" these pre-release drivers to Anand for his R520 review, take them as gospel...and nVidia won't release them to the public for weeks after.

I dont think they would. I for one, as a consumer, would be mad.
edit, I also have serious doubts to the alleged 10fps more in every game comment. They dont say what games, settings or anything. While I hope it is true, I really doubt it is.
I expect you would be mad. You can't really take these things personally. Like I said, it is a "possibility" that they were holding back, but will never admit they did. They will most likely say they just worked very hard on new drivers to give the consumer even more bang for their money. So, if its true, you could very well be happy that you may be getting more performance for your hard earned money for free. It can be looked at both ways.
You wouldnt be mad? I would be pretty ticked. Why? Because I could have gotten better frames in the games I play for the last several months. If a company was to do this, they would be screwing over their customers, and I would take that personally.
Its my opinion however that they wouldnt do this, and that these new drivers wont be faster for me. At least not 10frames. I dont doubt that they can get a few more frames, under certain circumstances, I do have doubts it will be an across the board raise in frames.

Yes. I understand. You would be mad. Even though you have had record breaking performance since you originally purchased your 7800GTX and nothing could touch it, you still would be mad. We know. Other people will have a totally different perspective as I mentioned. Positive. Free fps.
Oh, to answer your question. No, I would not be mad. I would be a little psyched to get more performance for free. So, under the "assumption" that this is 100% true, I would be glad.
And what the heck is this remark about? "Its my opinion however that they wouldnt do this, and that these new drivers wont be faster for me." For me? You mean only you? Is this what you want to happen? Sounds like you have made up your mind already that the new drivers will do little if nothing for you. (Emphasize "Sounds like") Wouldn't want to put words in your mouth.
EDIT: The beta is available at Guru. I don't know if you like using beta's or not ( I know I usually don't) but why not give them a try?

After thinking about this more intently I am not sure why he would be mad. It seems many products are governed. Take for instance your car, it could go faster, but they electronicly limit them now. Does that mean you want to return your car? Asside from that all of that, you researched (I hope you did, at least) the 7800 GTX before you purchased it and therefore seen the numbers before your decision. What could you possibly complain about? You agreed to pay a certain price after viewing the performance. Once you make that agreement, I am not sure how you can complain that the company did not push their card another 5%. Just because a manufacterer limits its own offerings does not mean the company is dishonest... Anyway, this is directed at Ackmed.

Either put forth an argument, stop assuming, or dont make useless and ignorant posts.

cars are electronically limited (they CAN be elminated) to 155 for SAFETY reasons...not that half the cars out there can even reach that.
i don't understand how everything turns into an arguement nowadays. eveyrbody has something up their ass.

Actually, his statement was absolutely true, whether it applies to you or not. Many people around the world are happy no matter how good of a life they have. If that is you, then so be it. But there is truth in his statement.
