I agree. I am in the same boat, and although I am not religious, it is sad to see someone pass on who had a positive impact on so many lives.

EDIT: POST #1000 for me! :) Only took me 5 and a half years to get there. :)

i'd rather hear the singing than christianne amanpour saying that everyone was shocked when they elected a non-Catholic Pope. and yes, that is what she said.

He's the only leader of my church that I have ever known in my whole lifetime,

Peace be with you Father

there are only 3 things in my life that I would die protecting and John Paul and my religion is one of them (the others being my family and my country)

Off to church I go along with literaly a billion other Catholics to pray for the leader of our church, Catholic or not I encorage you to do the same

I tend to agree with you, but out of respect for Catholics in this thread (of which I'm not one of them), I'd have kept my mouth shut.

Well why should they be sad? If he is a good Christian according to their belifs he's headed for a much better place. Sounds more like a reason to celebrate than to be sad and mourn.

I think they're probably sad becuase he led such a great life and overcame such great obstacles (such as getting shot in the stomach), but at the end of his life he was reduced to such a feeble shell of his former self. You have to admit, seeing him try to speak was kind of pitiful.

The sadness that is felt by millions around the world is not for John Paul II, but rather for the rest of the world that has lost a great man. I'm convinced he's in a better place today, and his life is a reason to rejoice, but it is a loss for the entire world. :(

You know, I saw your picture and I thought that wisdom might come with age, but you've just proven to me that you can be an old washed up biker and still be a joke, a stupid one.

Bravo... *clap* *clap* *clap*

This might sound strange, but for the longest time I've had this irrational fear of dying before the Pope. I think it stems from him having been the only Pope I've known and how long he's served. That and I've known a few people my age who've died, yet he keeps hanging on. He's not really that old even; I guess his disease just made him seem older to me. With his death, I can finally lay my fears to rest.
