I guess it's too late in the day for serious answers. I wanted to see if this was general knowledge or if the two people I've quizzed are total idiots.
 
really serious jews. There are a lot of them walking around at dusk on friday night. Look Out!

They cannot perform any "work" on the sabbath, which I found out actually includes turning on and off lights. I went to a Lutron class where I learned this (might be bs though it sounds right).
 
Ok, so at least a few of you are with it and have actually seen them out walking to temple or what not.

Even an Australian knows.

A couple female coworkers I asked had no idea what I was talking about when I pointed out groups of them walking on two random Saturdays. The second female tried to argue that they were Amish because they're the ones that don't drive.

Her retort was, "I'm not Jewish so why should I know that?" Stupid bitches.

Yeah, but the funny part is that depending on their views, it's acceptable to have the TV on (and watch it) so long as you don't change the the channel, etc. I had a few friends in Phoenix that did all sorts of stuff like that on the Sabbath.

It's not really "funny" per se, it's not that they aren't allowed to use the devices, it's that they can't "alter" an object (see the 39 Melakhot). So leaving the TV on before Shabbat starts, and not touching it until after Shabbat fits within the rules just fine.

I know about jews but I can't remember how I found out they were the ones walking around on Saturday. Probably from the media (TV or movie) where they were dressed in the traditional Orthodox dress with the hats and the hair.

Doesn't take much to put two and two together. I was just annoyed at how dense and clueless these girls were.

I guess I honestly cheated, I live in South Florida, which is 50% North Cuba and 50% Israel. 😛
