That's the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.

Religous people are fucked in the head.

If you were going to pick an aspect of the Jewish tradition/religion to deem "most pathetic" I've gotta say circumcision goes a little higher than Shabbat elevators. :colbert:

Yeah, but the funny part is that depending on their views, it's acceptable to have the TV on (and watch it) so long as you don't change the the channel, etc. I had a few friends in Phoenix that did all sorts of stuff like that on the Sabbath.

That is actually one of the major features of the centralized lighting features. Automatic lights. Its fine to use the light and to be in the house when the lights come on, you just can't hit the switch.

Tucson hosts a plethora of gem and mineral shows late January - early February. Hundreds of millions if not billions in sales are made during these trade shows. Three of the high end wholesale shows account for the bulk of the sales. Booth fees for these shows are astronomical. Yet the Orthodox Jews close up shop and leave their booths vacant for the Sabbath. That's fine, their money, their religion. But sweet Jesus, sublet the space for the day! These guys are paying thousands of bucks for empty tables.

elevators and tvs? pshhhh. go read about the jewish babies who were secretely baptised, and subsequently taken from their families because that's what the church believed should be done. why did it happen? because those families hired help who would work on the sabath.

<3 religion

Ok, so at least a few of you are with it and have actually seen them out walking to temple or what not.

Even an Australian knows.

A couple female coworkers I asked had no idea what I was talking about when I pointed out groups of them walking on two random Saturdays. The second female tried to argue that they were Amish because they're the ones that don't drive.

Her retort was, "I'm not Jewish so why should I know that?" Stupid bitches.

So your a hot shot know it all?
What right do you have to place your expectations on other people?

They didn`t know so be it...it`s no big deal.
I bet you I can make you look real stupid when it comes to knowledge about my Jewish faith....

Orthodox Jews look very similar to the Amish. Teh only difference is that the Orthodox Jews have the curly queue things in their hair.

So, whenever I see Orthodox jews on the street, I often get excited because I think I see the Amish, which means I'm about to see horse and buggies...

What a disappointment.
