I"m getting one soon, and I like it! Its a slick little car, the interior leaves something to be desired, but I'm getting a steal on mine, and it only has 61k miles on it!

What do you all think of this little 2 seat wonder?

For those of you who have no idea what this is...

JFGI

EDIT:

1) It was originally meant to be a sports car. GM forced the commuter car angle and Pontiac was working to get it back to a sports car when GM axed it.

2) Both engines made a good deal of power in their time. This is the mid 80s were talking about, post Oil Embargo. The V6 moved plenty quick for its day. Even the duke made considerable power for a 4 banger.

3) Only the 1984's had a fire problem. Again, GM getting cheap. The Duke of 84 had weak rods. There was a coolant hose poorly placed that rubbed up against an edge till it was cut open. Once the coolant leaked out, the car overheated fast. Then the weak Duke threw a rod, hot oil got on hot engine parts and exhaust tubes, and you have a fire. The recall fixed the problem and no other Fiero ever had the problem.

4) Theres simply no comparison to the Pinto. The Pinto was a cheap piece of junk. The Fiero won numerous awards and basically gave birth to a new way of building cars and Saturn (the company).

5) The weight balance is almost a perfect 50/50. They're not rear heavy. I've pegged the 120mph speedo on my car and had no problems. Other people have been much faster without problems.

Thats all so far. The flipping over at 88mph is a new one to me.

It's a neat little commuter car, but it's not a sportscar. The original spec was for a good-looking economy car for commuters, and the later models tried to be more sporty but were stuck with the DNA of an econobox.

I think they are the ugliest american car ever made but thats just my opinion. I prefer third gen transams, first gen f bodys, and first gen mustangs.

thier great cars I had one as my first car and i loved it. defenatly get a later madoel though. 88 is the best because it had all the bugs worked out of it from earlier years and it had a slightly redisgned supension. thier not much for power though (unless you drop a v8 in one) but mine served me 5 good years and I was quite hard on it

I basically put it in the same class as the Cavalier, I think that still means it counts as junk. :p

Didn't they have a bad problem of catching on fire?
There is a guy in the apartment complex I live in that has one, very sharp looking.
If you can find one with a V-6 they are suposed to have good get up and go.
Expect it to be a project to work on.

The 4-cylinders did, yeah. But it's only a small fire right behind the driver's head. ;) :p

They did have a problem of catching fire. Mine is the 6 cylinder 4 speed, I wont have any problems, plus alot has been worked on, its not so much stock anymore. And yeah, I only got it because its going to be a nice project, I love the look of the Fiero, and theres plenty of extra work I want to do on it.

You should PM YellowFiero, I want to bet he would have plenty of tips about working on it :)

Since all the weight is in the rear, the car flips over backwards if you get it up to 88 mph.

The Pinto was actually a very good economy car as long as you didn't get rear-ended and exploded. ;)

The Pinto fared better than the Chevy competition in road tests. (Though not in crash tests of course.)

hahahaha

You think he's joking, but he's not. Find the nose off a GT.

Or go full-out rice with it and do one of the Fiero -> Ferrari/Lambo kitcar conversions. :p

Well, jeez... considering that the Chevy competition was the 4cyl Vega, an even worse car... :Q

Anyway, Mandos, don't forget your fireproof suit!

I've got the GT, and I've never flipped

I know a lot of people like those cars, and I am perfectly fine with that, but I think they are absolutely awful.. I still remember a guy with a mullet pulling up beside me in one of those, I was driving my dads max at the time.. this was 4-5 years ago when he first got the 2K Max... it was a V6, i could tell by the idle, and apparently a 5 speed, I could tell when he shifted into 2nd.
Anyways it was a merge, and he was the only person in the car.. I stepped on the gas, and beat him pretty badly for the merge. There was 4 people in my car, and it's an automatic to boot.

I thought it was a pretty bad loss for that guy... :)
